Our First Look At The 4A Title Game

Enjoy!</strong></em></strong></em></strong></em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Class 4A state championship game is set! #1 Elgin will square off with #2 Tuttle in Edmond on Saturday night at 7PM. It will be the second straight year that these two meet with the state championship on the line. This match-up also features the two teams that have been #1 and #2 in Class 4A all season. The Owls are looking for their second straight state championship after capturing their first gold ball in program history. On the other side, Tuttle has used last year's title game loss as a driving motivator to make it back to Edmond and finish the job this time around. In this post, we take our first look at both teams prior to their title clash on Saturday night. And after going undefeated in 2024, the Owls have now won 27 consecutive games going into Saturday night's contest. They beat two 5A semifinalists in non-district play after beating Lawton MacArthur and Newcastle. Then they went into district play and ran away with the district title, winning every game by 30+ points. The Owls have looked like a championship team all season and that was evident in the playoffs. They beat Bethany, Ada and Cushing to punch their ticket to Edmond. They beat their three playoff opponents by an average of 40 points per game, setting up a rematch with Tuttle. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY<br>1-0 Record - 2nd Title Appearance</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prior to their run to the 2024 state championship, Elgin had not experienced consistent playoff success. Prior to 2024, the Owls had never been out of the quarterfinal round, let alone making it to the state title game. So when they take the field on Saturday night, it will be their second straight year playing for the gold ball and the second time in school history. And just like last season, they'll see the Tuttle Tigers on the other sideline. Last year, it was a back and forth game, where ultimately the Owls prevailed 29-22. While Elgin might not have as much championship history as Tuttle, they do have championship success. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION - 48.7 Points Per Game</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Led by one of the best running backs in Oklahoma, Elgin comes into Saturday's game averaging just shy of 50 points per game. They've scored at least 40 points in every game except one this season and show no signs of slowing down. Despite a new quarterback and having to replace two D1 offensive linemen, this offense has looked fantastic all season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>DEFENSIVE PRODUCTION - 7.3 Points Per Game</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The defense has been just as good for the Owls all season and they'll need to play their best game Saturday as they try to slow down the high-powered Tuttle attack. The Owls come into Saturday's title game giving up 7.3 points per game and they've shut down some really good offenses in the postseason. And they've played like it all season, coming into this week with a perfect 13-0 record after a season where the Tigers smashed everyone standing in their way of a return trip to Edmond. They opened the season with back to back 20+ point wins over 5A top ten teams in Guthrie and Newcastle. From there, the Tigers absolutely cruised to a 10-0 regular season record. Every game during the final eight weeks featured the Tigers putting the game away by halftime. That didn't stop in the playoffs. They rolled to big wins over Clinton and Grove, setting up a semifinal showdown with Broken Bow. The Tigers had to play all four quarters for the first time in months but still won by 21 points.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY<br>3-4 Record - 8th Title Appearance</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Tuttle has a nickname that is synonymous with winning. They call Tuttle "Title Town" and the Tigers are hungry for their first state championship since 2018. The Tigers return to the championship game for the second straight year and the eighth time in program history. But in the last six seasons, the Tigers have now been to three championship games but they lost the last two, including last year's 29-22 loss to Elgin. The Tigers are a team that expect to contend for state championships year after year and like we mentioned earlier, this 2025 group feels like one that comes into Saturday with a lot of momentum and motivation. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION - 54.3 Points Per Game</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Tuttle offense is one of the highest scoring units in the state, regardless of class. They come into Saturday's game averaging 54.3 points per game and when you look at their results this season, they show no signs of slowing down. They've scored at least 49 points in 11 straight games and are led by one of the best quarterback/running back duos in the state.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>DEFENSIVE PRODUCTION - 5.8 Points Per Game</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As dominant as the offense has been this season, the defense has been just as good. The Tigers are giving up 5.8 points per game this season and that's including last week's semifinal where they gave up 28 to Broken Bow. That was just the second time this season that an opponent got into double figures against this stout Tuttle Tiger defensive unit. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
