To finish up my coverage of the first session of Prepredzone's Minnesota Stock Up Showcase, I am going to cover a few different position groups – linebackers, defensive linemen, and some additional running back observations.

Linebackers

[player_tooltip player_id='2005361' first='Rylan' last='Horsch'] Annandale 6'3 210

Horsch has quick feet and good hips. He showed good quickness and change-of-direction ability to stay with his receiver.

[player_tooltip player_id='2079744' first='Cassius' last='Carter'] Brooklyn Center 5'6 160

Carter fell back a step covering a deep ball, but he showed good closing speed to make up ground and break up a deep pass.

[player_tooltip player_id='2075844' first='Chase' last='Carroll'] Rochester Lourdes 6' 175

Carroll showed good instincts and an explosive first step when he broke on the ball to break up a pass. Later, he showed good closing speed to break up a deep ball. Carroll has good hips and feet. He also showed a nice spin move in a one-on-one pass rush rep during the best on best section of the morning.

Running backs

More and more, a running back's job is not just to run or catch the ball. With the spread offense and its variations used all over the state, if your running back is not an effective and willing pass blocker, your team is going to struggle. Here are some guys who looked good picking up the blitz.

[player_tooltip player_id='2078790' first='Caleb' last='Fronning'] Kennedy Secondary 5'11 170

Fronning showed good feet and power picking up a pass rusher.

[player_tooltip player_id='2081581' first='Jonah' last='Ambrosier'] Sartell 5'10 190

Ambrosier squared up his defender and moved him to the outside – well away from the quarterback.

[player_tooltip player_id='2075079' first='Lavontae' last='Hodges'] Apple Valley 5'9 170

Hodges squared up the pass rusher using a low center of gravity. He moved him to the outside, well out of harm's way.

[player_tooltip player_id='1370533' first='Sean' last='Lassahn'] New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva 5'8 180

Lassahn had a physical pass block rep. He squared his man up and moved him to the outside.

[player_tooltip player_id='1366044' first='Ifa' last='Sheik'] Blaine 5'9 190

Sheik showed some physicality when he squared up a pass rusher and got him to the ground.

[player_tooltip player_id='2060368' first='Graham' last='Delger'] Chanhassen 5'9 165

Delger used good footwork to stay in front of his man. He used that positioning to usher the defender to the outside.

Defensive line

[player_tooltip player_id='1976668' first='Max' last='Zappa'] Blaine 5'11 210

Zappa used a nice rip move to get himself around the corner and to the quarterback.

[player_tooltip player_id='1715723' first='Cordell' last='Givance'] Hopkins 6' 240

Givance showed multiple pass rush moves. First, he used a nice spin move, then he used a great swim move to beat his blocker.

[player_tooltip player_id='2004573' first='Avery' last='Schatz'] Prior Lake 6'4 195

Schatz was quick off the ball and helped him beat his blocker with a nice outside pass rush.
