It is now the offseason and before you know it, the calendar year 2026 will be upon us, and that will include high school coaches preparing for the next season and connecting with college football coaches that come to each campus to talk about potential recruiting prospects.

With a pair of contact periods during the next semester, Division One coaches can and will make the rounds to connect with coaches and prospects at their high school campus. These often results in new offers and relationships for the players as well as new prospects on the radar for the college coach.

Here are four prospects could see their recruiting interest heat up during the spring and into the season where they could take another step forward toward reaching their potential and have an even bigger breakout season.

Baylor 2028 OT [player_tooltip player_id='1704258' first='Dante' last='Wade']

[player_tooltip player_id='1704258' first='Dante' last='Wade'] is a massive offensive tackle prospect that should help fill the void of two other huge tackles graduating and leaving the Baylor football program. At 6-foot-7 and 300 pounds, he has very good size with a lean frame to continue adding more power to his skillset without sacrificing the intriguing athletic upside he possess at that size.

He has flashed his ability on both lines and in scrimmage settings, but next season will be the one he will need to put it together consistently and be a reliable offensive lineman for his quarterback. Not that he can not do that, next season will simply be his first season starting at Baylor.

He will be one of the biggest breakouts inside the state of Tennessee to watch as he has the frame and traits to be a notable recruit and the opportunity to play will finally come this fall.

Christ Presbyterian Academy 2028 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1586170' first='Gabriel' last='Cabell']

At 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, he has an excellent frame with very good size and blatant track speed, making him a potent deep threat early in his high school career. However, with his older brother Owen heading to Vanderbilt, he will have to step up into the lead receiver role for CPA next season.

He has excellent speed that was reflected on the track as a freshman last spring, where he won the state championship as the anchor in a 4x400 relay as well as impressive times in the 100m (10.75) and 200m (21.67).

He will be in a larger leadership role with the spotlight on him next season, but he has all the size, tools and talent to handle that pressure and take the next step on the football field as he continues to break records as a budding track star.

His combination of size, speed and football family will be hard to pass up for a lot of college coaches.

Battle Ground Academy 2028 DB [player_tooltip player_id='1065916' first='Jeisun' last='Thompson']

[player_tooltip player_id='1065916' first='Jeisun' last='Thompson'] had several flashes from his safety position as a high school freshman and that was something he could build upon at a new school in a more prominent role as a sophomore. However, he ended up missing this entire season and that true breakout could come for him playing in the BGA secondary this next fall.

While coaches will likely wait to see him on the football field before deciding where they actually stand on him as a prospect, he has the tools to breakout in a huge way this season for the Wildcats.

He had good size as a freshman, standing around 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds with the athleticism to complement. As you could imagine with that size and speed, he was a productive tackler when on the field as a freshman. As a junior, he should get some serious run at corner, which could only make him more coveted with a strong season.

East Nashville 2028 IDL [player_tooltip player_id='1565681' first='Devin' last='Phillips']

[player_tooltip player_id='1565681' first='Devin' last='Phillips'] is a massive interior defensive line prospect that generates great pushback with his initial burst and power. Standing around 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds, he can generate a lot of force on his initial punches and that has allowed for him to blow up plays as a young defensive lineman early in his career.

As he continues his development on his body and the field with him moving into upperclassman territory, his offer list should only continue to grow as he has the baseline traits and tools that are very valuable up front for a defense.

If he takes another step forward this season with his consistency, leverage and pass rushing impact, he will see those offers begin to come in more regularly, which is something a lot of coaches could very well see at a spring practice during the offseason.
