As we get deeper into the month of December, we have entered the final round of rankings updates for the year. The latest class to be updated in state of Kentucky is the class of 2027. With the class update being officially posted, I have been taking the past week to break the rankings down by position. After already covering the offensive side of the ball, I have now turned my attention to the defensive side of the ball. With the front seven already taken care of, here are our top defensive backs in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky.

[player_tooltip player_id='1217741' first='Allen' last='Evans IV'] continued to prove that he is one of the best players in the state this season. He lined up at corner where he was very impressive in man coverage. Evans plays with a ton of physicality, showing the ability to fight with his hands to jam receivers and redirect them wherever he wants them to go. He also showed the ability to open up and run with receivers with ease to mirror their routes. When the ball is thrown his way, he does a great job of breaking on the ball to make a play, finishing his junior year with two interceptions and multiple pass breakups in 15 games. He also recorded 28 tackles and one tackle for loss this season. Allen currently holds a long list of Power 4 offers and I expect that list to continue to grow this offseason.

[player_tooltip player_id='378835' first='Jordan' last='Haskins'] has been high on our radar for a while now and continued to stand out this season. Haskins lined up at safety where he was very reliable in coverage. He does a great job of reading the quarterback and route combinations then flowing through the secondary to put himself in a position to make a play. When the ball is thrown in his direction, he has shown impressive ball skills, coming away with three interceptions (tied for team lead) in nine games this season. He also accounted for 50 tackles, one tackle for loss, and a sack this season. Haskins also made an impact on offense as a junior, running the ball 32 times for 160 yards and four touchdowns while also throwing four touchdown passes. Jordan currently holds several Power 4 offers and I expect more to come his way going into his senior year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1596532' first='Elijah' last='Burns-Crump'] caught our attention last season and continued to stand out as a junior. He lines up at safety where he is very reliable in pass coverage. Burns-Crump does a great job of reading routes and flowing through the secondary accordingly. When the ball is thrown his way, he does a great job of breaking on the ball with perfect timing to make a play, finishing this season with four interceptions in 15 games, returning two of them for touchdowns. He also recorded 56 tackles, four tackles for loss, and half a sack this season. Burns-Crump currently holds multiple Power 4 offers and I expect a lot of college coaches to have him high on their radar this offseason.

[player_tooltip player_id='1314812' first='Cionne' last='Conn'] is a player who has been high on our radar for a while now and continued to impress as a junior. Conn lines up at safety where he has proven to be very dependable in coverage. He does a great job of reading the quarterback then using his speed to break on the ball to make a play once it is in the air. Conn finished this past season with a team-high three interceptions in 13 games. He has also shown the ability to come downhill to provide support against the run, finishing his junior year with 55 tackles and two tackles for loss. Cionne currently holds offers from Southern Mississippi, UT-Martin,

To wrap up our top five defensive backs in the class of 2027 in the state of Kentucky, I have [player_tooltip player_id='400890' first='Sekou' last='Kamara']. Sekou lines up at corner where he has proven to be effective in both zone and man coverage. He does a great job of reading route combinations then reacting quickly to make a play on the ball when it is thrown his way. Kamara finished his junior year with three interceptions in 15 games, returning one of them for a touchdown. He also accounted for 40 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and half a sack this season. Sekou currently holds offers from Appalachian State and Warner, and I expect more to come his way as he is a true Division I caliber prospect.
