The most dominant defensive player in the game was Scheffers. It was one of the best efforts that I've seen from a linebacker all season. There was no stopping him from wreaking havoc in the backfield. Scheffers came off the edge and chased down a good number of plays from behind the line of scrimmage. Scheffers even tipped a pass in coverage. To top it all off, he also caught.a touchdown pass. I think he has a strong case for a rankings bump at the end of the season. Scheffers was a one-man wrecking crew.

Archbishop Spalding's defensive line made It tough for MSJ to do anything on offense and Williams was one of the main reasons why. I don't have official numbers, but I do know he had at least two sacks and a tackle. On one of his sacks, he beat the offensive tackle outside, avoided the block by the running back, and sacked the quarterback as soon as he tried to step up. On the other sack, he kept containment on the quarterback who try to beat him to scramble outside of him on a passing play, and end up sacking him. He's strong at the point of attack and gives no ground. Very solid effort.

I counted several tackles for Snell against MSJ. On one play, he chased the quarterback out of bounds. What was impressive was that he slapped down on the quarterbacks arm and stripped him of the football before tackling him. Snell made a lot of plays in the box and was a main reason hardly any run plays made it past the second level. I thought he did a great job of identifying the run fast and filling the lanes. He's a sure tackler and drives through contact. There's a spot for a player like him at the next level.

Despite the game being a lopsided loss, Brooks gave it his all for four quarters. I can't verify his size at the moment, but I do know that he was involved in a lot of tackles for MSJ. One one play, he sniffed out a screen play and upended the Archbishop Spalding running back for a loss. Brooks' most impressive play of the game was a pass breakup he had in the end zone to prevent a score. The tight end had the ball in his hands, but was unable to secure the catch after Brooks knocked the ball out of his hands. You can tell a lot about a player during a loss. I thought Brooks played tough and gave his best effort despite it being a lopsided game.

While Hoyle didn't get a lot of action his way in the passing game, he made the most out of his opportunities to make a play. He made one interception where he did a great job of high-pointing the football. Hoyle's other interception came off a tipped pass, showing his awareness and quick reactions skills in making a play for the defense.
