Postseason Round III- Standout Defensive Performances

What a week!   Today, we're watching some of our Standout Performers on the defensive side of the ball. These prospects dominated this week and have been putting together some impressive seasons- we're all going to have to watch out for them moving forward.   With that being said, make sure you watch their film below!    [player_tooltip player_id='1211631' first='Henry' last='Smith'] was dominant upfront for Moody's defense this week, making a ton of huge plays at and behind the line of scrimmage.   "Smith has a huge presence on the defensive line and can produce in a lot of different ways down in the trenches. Against the run, Smith uses his size and strength to eat up tons of space, close down rushing lanes, and work around OL to get his hands on the ball carrier to create stops.   Smith is just as productive rushing the passer. He has violent hands and speed he uses to quickly work around offensive linemen and get to the quarterback, consistently generating pressure, racking up sacks, and forcing bad decisions with the ball."   Smith was dominant in his team's 51-27 win over Briarwood Christian, recording 7 total tackles (4 solo, 3 for loss) and one sack. [player_tooltip player_id='1622460' first='Dontaye' last='Bush'] was unstoppable in the trenches for Williamson this week, making multiple huge stops behind the line of scrimmage.   “Bush is highly athletic and plays with a ton of speed, power, and pursuit- he has a great first step/burst off the line of scrimmage, a ton of different pass rush moves he uses to beat OTs, and a motor he uses to make plays against the run and pass all game long.   Bush is a force off the edge- he constantly gets into the backfield to generate tons of pressure, force bad decisions, and rack up sacks. Bush is also great at stopping the run- he has great pursuit and closing speed, can fight off blockers, and is a reliable tackler that prevents big gains.“   Bush had a dominant performance against Montgomery Catholic, recording 8 total tackles (5 for loss), 2 sacks, 2 hurries, and one PBU.   I've been really impressed with Bush this season, make sure you watch some of below:      [player_tooltip player_id='1907040' first='Billy' last='Neill'] has been a consistent dominant force on Bayside Academy's defense these last few years and this week was no different.   "Neill is a versatile linebacker who is capable of making huge plays against the run and pass. Neill is quick off the snap, great at fighting off blocks, and is a constant threat to offenses upfront. He has excellent pursuit skills, closing speed, and vision he uses to easily locate the ball and make plays on the ball no matter where he lines up."   Neill flew around the field in his team's win over Montgomery Academy, recording 10 total tackles (4 solo, .5 for loss) and one INT.   I've been a huge fan of Neill for awhile now. Be sure to check out some of Neill's tape below, you'll be impressed:      [player_tooltip player_id='1337992' first='Xavier' last='Starks'] is a talented DB from Clay Chalkville who flew around and dominated against Homewood this week.   "Starks is a hybrid safety who can dominate opposing rushing and passing attacks in a ton of different ways. He's highly instinctual and can read and react to opposing offenses within seconds of the snap, consistently putting himself in great position to impact plays.   Starks is excellent out in coverage- he isn't easily baited by play fakes, doesn't let anyone behind him, and has the ball skills to consistently pick off and break up passes.. Starks is just as good at defending the run- he flies downhill, doesn't shy away from contact, and has great skills in pursuit and as a tackler."   Starks was unstoppable this week, recording 9 total tackles (7 solo) and three PBUs.   Make sure you check out some of Starks' film below, he's been a huge asset to Clay Chalkville's defense.      [player_tooltip player_id='1604824' first='Charles' last='Chappelle'] has been a tackling machine for Benjamin Russell this year- and this week was no different.   "Chappelle is highly athletic and really impresses me in coverage. Although playing LB, Chappelle has terrific ball skills and can come away with PBUs and interceptions on some huge passing downs.   Outside of coverage, Chappelle is really effective at blitzing and stopping the run- he is hard to contain when he's coming downfield and frequently comes away with huge plays in the backfield."
