As we approach the end of November, the 2025 high school football regular season is behind us in the state of Kentucky and postseason action is in full swing. With that being said, I wanted to take a look back at the season and highlight some freshmen at each position who have made/are continuing to make an impact in their first season of high school football. After already covering the quarterbacks and running backs, here are some 2029 wide receivers in the state of Kentucky who have made an impact this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='868414' first='Xavier' last='Wooldridge'] stood out in a big way in his first season of high school football. In 11 games, Xavier led Somerset in receiving with 27 catches for 418 yards and three touchdowns. He is very dangerous in the open field, using his speed and elusiveness to turn screens/short passes into big gains at any given moment. Wooldridge has also shown the ability to blow by opposing defensive backs with ease in the deep passing game. He also finished this season with 21 carries for 209 yards and four touchdowns, and made an impact on defense, recording 32 tackles and returned a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Xavier is definitely a player who college coaches should have their eyes on moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='868213' first='Alex' last='Decker'] is another freshman receiver from Somerset who impressed this season. He finished the season with 25 receptions for 376 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games. Decker is very reliable in contested/jump ball situations, using his athleticism to attack the ball at its highest point and strong hands to come away with catches through contact. He has also shown the speed to create separation in the deep passing game. Decker will be a player to keep an eye on as he continues to develop over the next few years.

[player_tooltip player_id='2064821' first='Michael' last='Crigler'] caught my attention with a very impressive freshman year. He led his team in receiving with 40 receptions for 607 yards and eight touchdowns in 12 games. Crigler proved to be a skilled route runner, using smooth breaks in his routes to create separation with ease. He also showed the speed to pose as a dangerous deep threat. Michael also made an impact on defense this season, recording 26 tackles and a team-high three interceptions. Crigler will be a player worth keeping an eye on over the next few seasons.

The final 2029 receiver in the state of Kentucky who stood out to me this season is [player_tooltip player_id='2064824' first='Noah' last='Hawkins']. In nine games, Hawkins hauled in 20 passes for 341 yards and four touchdowns. Hawkins has impressive speed which he uses to run by opposing defensive backs with ease in the deep passing game. He has also showed solid route running ability, showing the ability to create separation and find openings in the secondary to settle into. Hawkins also played a role on defense this season, finishing the year with 40 tackles. Noah will be a player to watch as his role in the Bethlehem offense continues to grow over the next three years.
