He is excellent in both zone and man-to-man coverage. His ability to cover wide receivers in both types of coverage is good. He also shows good ball skills as he constantly gets his hands on the ball to knock it down. His technique in one-on-one situations is excellent. He can use his hands and athleticism on wide receivers without interfering with them. He is also a good tackler who does a good job of tackling in the open field. Johnson has the size and skills to improve and be even better next year. His ability to play multiple positions is impressive. He played as a strong safety, free safety, and as a cornerback last season. At all 3 positions, he does a good job in coverage and in run support. The best part of his game is his closing speed. His ability to see the ball and then close on the receiver for the pass breakup is excellent. He understands angles well and how to anticipate where the ball is going to be thrown. He also plays in space well and knows how to read when it is a run and come upfield to make the tackle. He had some film as a running back, and he showed his speed and his ability to be elusive.
