Probably the most fun week so far this season. A ton of close games, and several amazing performances from across the state. Here, I'm focusing on players who stepped up in tight rivalry games.

Perhaps the most clutch player in Michigan High School Football. Last year, it was a thriller against Rochester Adams, where Jack eventually led Oxford through a game-winning drive. This year, it's against West Bloomfield.

Watch Jack's highlights from last week. Kid can rip it. Sees the field incredibly well, and always seems to perform best when the lights are brightest. Specifically, the play at 0:27 stands out to me. Protection was great, Jack waits in the pocket, and throws a dart to the wide-open deep crosser. I've always loved Jack's playing style, as well as Oxford's passing scheme.

Jack is probably the most underrated QB in the state. A special high school football player whom I'll remember for a long time.

If you're reading this, you definitely saw Lawsyn's viral highlight. Even being #1 on the SportsCenter Top 10. Yes, the catch was one of the best I've ever seen (absolutely the best catch from a high school football player).

Though this catch also came at a critical part of the game. Rockford had stormed back, and Hudsonville was pinned deep to begin their drive. Lawsyn's catch capped off a 99-yard drive that ended up being the nail in the coffin.

Once Lawsyn releases a highlight tape, I'll make sure to give it a watch. Regardless, I'll absolutely play back a Hudsonville game sometime in the coming months. Really curious to see how well-rounded a player Lawsyn is.

When [player_tooltip player_id='1643882' first='Lamar' last='Bradford'] is in the game, Muskegon has a shot against anyone. He's their lightning. Can get it done with his legs or arm, just as all of the elite Muskegon QBs have been able to do over the years.

Only 2 for 3 passing. However, he mauled Mona Shores on the ground. Against his biggest rival, Lamar ran for 245 yards on 21 carries. The O-Line at Muskegon is still excellent, and they're able to consistently open holes. Lamar has that extra gear to avoid tackles in the open field, and the speed to outrun most defenders- something that was missing at Muskegon last season.

Looking forward to seeing how far Lamar and Muskegon go in the playoffs this season. They could be on a potential crash course with teams like Portage Central or Dexter.

I was able to watch Ryan's clutch performance in person. He carried a large load for his team on both sides of the ball.

First drive for Dakota, Ryan drops into his zone, gets in front of the curl route, and earns an interception. Huge early-game confidence boost for Romeo, and that interception allowed them to strike first. Also, excellent effort and physicality on the return.

Ryan's next highlight showcases an excellent spin move and quick pressure on the Dakota QB. Two more defensive highlights show off a sack, and a great hustle play near the sideline. Ryan was a huge part in disrupting the Dakota offense, who were never really able to get into a rhythm.

Ryan stood out to me during pregame, and really impressed in-game. Super competitive, confident football player. Go watch Ryan's highlights from the Dakota game!

I hope Darrione earns college attention this coming offseason. He may be the #1 running back in the OK Red right now.

No tape from last week just yet, but I heard that Darrione stepped up in a big way against a scrappy Jenison team. Just watch Darrione's highlights against Cass Tech- he has an excellent combination of speed and power. Able to hit his hole, run straight through tackles, and has the speed to go the distance. Seriously, Darrione's contact balance is great, and he can be shifty in traffic. I truly believe that he'll be able to step up as Grandville's RB1 for the rest of the season.
