WINNER-TAKE-ALL DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: Cleveland at Rio Rancho (Thur., Oct. 30, Rams Stadium, 6 p.m.)

This isn't the first time the City of Vision Clash between Cleveland and Rio Rancho has been a winner-take-all district championship game. Granted, this game is always big but when a title is on the line, it just means more. Both teams are 4-0 in District 6A-1. For Rio Rancho, playing at home, this is a must-win game for the Rams to earn a top four seed. Cleveland, which has dominated the rivalry in recent years, will likely still receive top four seed even with a loss. Intriguing contrast in quarterback styles. Storm QB [player_tooltip player_id='851873' first='Jordan' last='Kekoa Hatch'] is an fantastic passer from the pocket but will run when he has the space. Rams QB [player_tooltip player_id='1604705' first='Micah' last='Takahashi'] is a dynamic dual threat. Both teams have solid ground games, elite receivers ([player_tooltip player_id='851903' first='Jacob' last='Maldonado'], [player_tooltip player_id='1266408' first='Parker' last='Miller'], [player_tooltip player_id='1613490' first='Evan' last='Nanez']), excellent offensive lines with numerous next level prospects and fast, aggressive defenses. This should be a battle.

MORE KEY GAMES

Centennial at Las Cruces: How loaded is District 6A-3? Three of the top four ranked teams in the latest MaxPreps 6A poll come from that district. These two teams plus Hobbs. If Las Cruces wins, they win the district outright and will likely secure the No. 1 seed for the 6A playoffs. If Centennial wins, they'll be rooting for Carlsbad to beat Hobbs. If Centennial and Hobbs both win, we'll have a three-way tie atop the district standings.

Roswell at Goddard: Roswell has dominated this rivalry in recent years but this could be the best Goddard team they've faced in a while. The Rockets battled Artesia for 48 minutes last week and actually lost to the Bulldogs by a smaller margin (10 points) than Roswell did in Week 9 (14 points). Goddard has been flying under the radar for most of the season. Regardless of the outcome, both team will likely secure top four seeds for the 5A playoffs.

Santa Rosa at Legacy Academy (Thur.): Everything was set up for this game to be a winner-take-all district championship game. But Raton spoiled those plans last week by knocking Santa Rosa from the ranks of the unbeaten. If Santa Rosa and Raton both win in Week 11, we'll have a three-way tie for first. If Legacy Academy wins, they're the outright district champs.

Grants at Bloomfield: Battle between the No. 1 and No. 3 teams in the latest MaxPreps Class 4A ranking. Bloomfield hasn't lost to another 4A teams in almost two years. The Bobcats have a prolific offense. Grants lost their starting QB and top tackler ([player_tooltip player_id='854297' first='Tristin' last='Fernandez']) a couple of weeks ago, but the experienced Pirates still posted an impressive win over Bernalillo in Week 10. A Grants win would open the door for Taos to claim a share of the district title with a win at Bernalillo.

Robertson at St. Michael's (Sat.): One of the most fierce rivalries in northern New Mexico. St. Michael's carries a 30-game winning streak into the game, the third longest winning streak in state history. The Horsemen have dominated every opponent this season. Win this game and they'll be the No. 1 seed for the 3A playoffs. Robertson should be back at full strength after multi-game suspensions rocked the Cardinals a few weeks ago.

Capital at Belen (Thur.): This game took on added importance when it was announced Tuesday night that Miyamura had forfeited a win over Capital earlier this season due to an ineligible player. As a result, these two teams are now tied for second in District 5A-1 with identical 4-2 marks. The winner will finish right behind Los Alamos in the final district standings.

Albuquerque Academy at Valencia: Albuquerque Academy hopes to finish at least second in District 4A-2 and earn a top four seed or a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Valencia, currently No. 12 in the MaxPreps rankings, are battling for their playoff lives and must win to cement a spot in the postseason.

Atrisco Heritage at Eldorado: Must win for the Eagles if they want to reach the playoffs. Currently, they're No. 15 in the MaxPreps 6A rankings. So, they must win and get some help elsewhere.

Taos at Bernalillo: Another team flying under the radar? Taos. The Tigers have sole possession of second place in District 4A-1 and could earn a share of the title if they win at Bernalillo and Grants upsets Bloomfield. Bernalillo eyes a first round home playoff game with a win.

Alamogordo at Clovis: These teams are ranked No. 12 (Alamogordo) and No. 13 (Clovis) in the latest MaxPreps 6A rankings. In short, it's a must-win game for both teams.

Carlsbad at Hobbs: These teams have different agendas entering the game. Carlsbad is No. 9 in the latest MaxPreps 6A rankings and looking to earn a first-round home playoff game. Hobbs seeks a top four seed.

Los Lunas at Sandia: Must-win for Sandia if the Matadors want to get into the 6A playoffs. Los Lunas is second in District 6A-2 but only ranked No. 11 by MaxPreps.

Manzano at St. Pius X: St. Pius X looks to finish the regular season strong and claim the No. 2 seed for the 4A playoffs. Manzano is 9th in the MaxPreps rankings and should earn a first-round home game with a win.

Volcano Vista at Cibola: Both teams are looking to boost their ranking for the 6A playoffs.

BEST OF THE REST

Mayfield at Artesia
