Howell (3-4) at Point Pleasant Boro (2-4)

In a case of David vs. Goliath, Group V Howell travels into town to take on Group II Point Pleasant Boro. This matchup is essentially a playoff game come two weeks early. With little margin for error down the stretch, Howell currently sits 15 in the field of 16 and Boro is the first-team out at 17th.

Howell gets the job done with [player_tooltip player_id='1894289' first='Connor' last='Acker'] under center. Acker, a junior, has thrown for 629 yards with 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 75-165 yards. More times than not, Acker looks toward a pair of senior receivers. [player_tooltip player_id='1894295' first='Jack' last='Quinn'] is their leading receiver in terms of yardage (335 yards) on 19 receptions with 2 scores; whereas [player_tooltip player_id='1894292' first='Josh' last='Krutyansky'] is their leader in receptions (25) and touchdowns (3) for 303 yards. Defensively [player_tooltip player_id='1921836' first='Ivan' last='Padilla'] has been a constant menace in opponents' backfield. Padilla has now accumulated 13.5 sacks to go along with 12 tackles for loss, amongst his 26 tackles (15 solo).

Having only attempted 24 pass attempts this season, Point Pleasant Boro looks to move the ball on the ground. Their leading rusher is [player_tooltip player_id='1657972' first='Calvin' last='Videon-Perino']. has set the pace with an 83/364/4. [player_tooltip player_id='1958038' first='Mason' last='Morris'], a linebacker, is one of Boro's defensive headliners. Morris leads the team with his 3 sacks, 7 tackles for loss, and 1 fumble recovery. He has also made 43 tackles (17 solo). [player_tooltip player_id='1958040' first='DJ' last='Albanese'], a junior, leads the team with 45 tackles (11 slo0, 2 forced fumbles, and an interception, while recovering a fumble and making 3 tackles for loss.

Monmouth (5-2) at Shore (4-2)

Despite a strong record, Monmouth is on the outside looking in, sitting 22nd in the field of 16 for South II. The good news is that they have a top team - Shore Regional - on their schedule who is the 4th seed in South I. A victory would certainly propel Monmouth up the standings.

[player_tooltip player_id='1958046' first='Ryan' last='Corwin'] is delivering wins early in his career. Under center, Corwin has had an efficient and productive sophomore season. Corwin has gone 79-133 for 1392 yards with 13 touchdowns to 4 interceptions. A threat to take what he sees, Corwin has also rushed 3 times for scores. Another productive 2028 graduate on Monmouth has been defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1958048' first='Donovan' last='Hicks']. Hicks has found himself with the team lead in tackles (42, 17 solo) and tackles for loss, 7. Additionally, he is tied for the team lead in sacks (1), while also intercepting a pass. Hicks has looked up with Corwin on offense as well. The receiver has caught 16 passes for 293 yards and 4 touchdowns. Lastly, [player_tooltip player_id='1958050' first='Liam' last='Faulkner'] completes the trilogy of strong sophomore defenders as, delivering early dividend. Faulker leads the team with 2 interceptions and 1 fumble recovery, while finding time to make 33 tackles (19 solo) and 1 tackle for loss.

Shore Regional has not updated their roster or statistical information to identify key prospects in this game.

Brick Memorial (5-2) at Southern (7-0)

This one ought to be a slobber knocker as two top-seeded teams connect for a slugfest. Brick Memorial (2nd in South IV) travels to Southern Regional (4th in South V) in a battle of Shore conference heavyweights, that is sure to be a thriller.

I am not sure if I recollect covering Brick Memorial yet this season, but there are some athletes - highly productive ones - to highlight. Starting with their quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id='1514620' first='Jason' last='Lajara'] seems to be the straw that stirs their drink. Lajara, now a senior, is near a 75% completion rate (76-104) with 1320 yards on the season. Impressively, he has thrown 16 touchdowns to just 2 interceptions. As if that was not enough, he leads his squad with 6 rushing scores for 424 yards. His favorite target is fellow senior [player_tooltip player_id='1514622' first='Nyzier' last='Matthews'], who he has unquestionably built outstanding rapport with over the years. Matthews leads all receivers with 584 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 31 receptions. Right on Matthews' heels, however, is fellow 2026 graduate [player_tooltip player_id='1958053' first='Nazeer' last='Whittaker']. A running back by trade, Whittaker leads the team with 76 attempts for 549 yards with 4 scores. What makes Whittaker so special though, is how frequently he is used in the passing game. He finds himself second on the team in all receiving statistics with a 29/274/4 slash line. Lastly, I cannot cover Brick Memorial without mentioning the greatness of [player_tooltip player_id='1691089' first='Jaxon' last='Pacheco']. A junior, the lineman leads the team with 4 sacks and 2 tackles for loss amongst his 22 tackles (13 solo). He also is a tone-setting along the offensive line.

For as efficient as Lajara has been, on the other side for Southern Regional, [player_tooltip player_id='1894285' first='Carson' last='Abbato'] might actually have bested him. Abbato has thrown 11 touchdowns without an interception for 819 yards on 48-65 passing, finding the endzone once using his legs. Abbato has been able to be so efficient due to the outstanding rushing game of [player_tooltip player_id='1958054' first='Aidan' last='Covell']. Covell finds himself comfortably leading the Rams rushing attack with a 93/564/8 slash line. On defense it is reasonable to expect [player_tooltip player_id='1514619' first='Lucas' last='Favorito'] to continue to be disruptive. He sacking the opposing quarterback a team-high 5 times, Favorito has also made 5 tackles for loss and forced a fumble. [player_tooltip player_id='1014503' first='Lukas' last='Iliescu'], a sophomore, has made the most tackles behind the line with 8.
