Section V Class A2 Playoff Preview

<p>Section V Class A, hosts 17 teams, forcing an extra week of playoffs, and the loss of a regular season game. This also means Class A is split up into A1, and A2. This weekend, 8 teams will battle, as they look to move to the Semi Finals of the Class A2 tournament. The Eagles, faced a 7-6 opening loss to Eastridge, and started the season 2-2, picking up a win against Brockport, and Wilson Magnet. The second loss, came at the hands of Monroe. The Eagles ended the season, winning three straight against Honeoye Falls Lima, Batavia, and Canandaigua Academy. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Eagles To Watch</h2>   <figure class="wp-block-table is-style-stripes"><table class="has-fixed-layout"><tbody><tr><td><strong>2029 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1354566' first='Darius' last='Weathers']</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>2027 ATH James Mobley</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>2026 ATH Zaire Spears</strong></td></tr></tbody></table></figure>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">X-Factor</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">The true Freshman, has really stepped up for the Eagles. Taylor leads the team in rush yards this season, with 429 yards and three touchdowns. He averages 61 yards per game. In his first playoff game, the true Freshman getting going on the ground will be a major factor in a win for East. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Key To The Game</h2>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><strong>Ground Game</strong>: The Eagles have solidified a ground game through 2025. Five different players on the offense, have over 20 carries this season and have accumulated a combined 18 touchdowns, compared to the seven scored through the air. A key to winning this game, will be to get the ground game going, and rush through the Wilson Defense. </li> </ul>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Wilson Breakdown</h2>   <p>Wilson made the playoffs, as the final seed and the only team without a win this season. The closest game for this Rochester squad, came in a 42-29 loss against Greece Arcadia. These teams played each other a few weeks ago, with East picking up a dominant 49-14 win. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Wilson College Athletes To Watch</h2>   <p>No players are listed on the Wilson/Early College roster, and little is known about the team.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Game Prediction</h2>   <p>I hope Wilson can keep this game close, but I see a blowout coming. The Eagles sit at 5-2, and have put together a solid season, including a win over this Wildcat squad the first time the teams meet. I see a similar score, and a dominant ground attack from East, as the #1 Seed wins handily to move to the Semi-Finals, with a score of <strong>42-17</strong>. </p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#2 Brockport Vs #7 Greece Arcadia</h2>   <p>Brockport, lost out on the one seed, due to a tiebreaker, which propelled East, to #1. The Blue Devils, finished the season with a 4-3 record. After starting off the year with a 28-0 win over Churchville-Chili, Monroe, and East, dropped the Blue Devils to 1-2. After beating Honeoye Falls-Lima and Batavia, Irondequoit pulled out a close 20-14 win, giving them their third loss of the year. To end the season, Brockport beat Eastridge 12-7, giving them a 4-3 finish. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Blue Devils To Watch</h2>   <figure class="wp-block-table is-style-stripes"><table class="has-fixed-layout"><tbody><tr><td><strong>2026 ATH Landon Scott</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>2026 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1624599' first='Ayden' last='Matthews'] </strong></td></tr></tbody></table></figure>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">X-Factor</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">The 2026 ATH, plays on both sides of the ball, and can lineup in the Secondary, or as a WR, RB. Matthews versatility, has helped lead this Brockport team, to a 4-3 record, and he is an X-Factor for this game, as him impact is seen in many aspects across the field, and having him on Brockport gives the Blue Devils a good shot to win. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Key To The Game</h2>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><strong>Defense</strong>: In wins, the Brockport defense has allowed over 15 points once this season. In losses they have allowed more than 20 points in all three games. Brockport needs to play their game, and the defense, needs to play like they have in the four wins, if the Blue Devils want to win. </li> </ul>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Greece Arcadia Breakdown</h2>   <p>Greece Arcadia, clinched the 7th seed in the A2 bracket, and has had a rough 2025 season. The Titans, lost six straight games in the season, with only the loss to Rochester Prep, being within 20 points. The Titans ended their season, with a win over #8 Wilson Magnet, where they had a major offensive explosion winning 50-18. The Titans are entering the playoffs on a high note. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Titans To Watch</h2>   <figure class="wp-block-table is-style-stripes"><table class="has-fixed-layout"><tbody><tr><td><strong>2026 ATH Javion Williams</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>2027 ATH Frankie Griswold</strong></td></tr></tbody></table></figure>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Game Prediction</h2>   <p>Much like the first game in the A2 bracket, I see another blowout. The Blue Devils, are too good of a team, on offense and defense, and the only win for the Titans has come against an 0-7 team. I think the Titans compete for a bit, but I see Brockport winning big. My prediction sees Brockport winning <strong>49-13</strong> at home tonight. </p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#3 Canandaigua Academy Vs #6 Greece Athena </h2>   <p>The Gray Wolves kicked off the season, with two massive offensive explosions, against Greece Arcadia, and Greece Athena, taking them to 2-0. Irondequoit, and Churchville-Chili, evened the score bringing them to 2-2, with back to bak two score loses. The next two games saw 21 plus point wins over Wilson Magnet, and Gates Chili, making the Gray Wolves 4-2. To end the season, East got the best of them, with a 25-14 win. The Gray Wolves finished the season 4-3. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Key To The Game</h2>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><strong>Score:</strong> In 2/7 games this year the Gray Wolves have been held to under 20 points. Both games were lost. In games score more then 20 points, the Gray Wolves are 4-1. The key to this game for Canandaigua Academy, is to score. Doing so will allow their defense to ease into the game, and end with the Gray Wolves moving onto the Semi-Finals. </li> </ul>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Greece Athena Breakdown</h2>   <p>The Trojans finished the season 2-5. Greece Athena, started 0-2, with two blowout losses against Canandaigua Academy, and Batavia. Week three brought win number one, as the Trojans got the better of Greece Arcadia in a major blowout with a score of 63-15. Irondequoit, and Churchville-Chili, dropped the Trojans to 1-4, where they dominated Wilson Magnet 67-41, to move to 2-4. The season ended with a 20 point loss to Gates Chili, giving them a 2-5 2025 season. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Game Prediction</h2>   <p>Canandaigua, won the first matchup, 50-10, to start the season. I see a similar result in the Quarterfinals tonight. The offense and defense have been inconsistent for the Trojans, and the Gray Wolves scan easily capitalize on this. I see a <strong>49-10</strong> win for Canandaigua Academy, as they move onto the Semi-Finals. </p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">#4 Gates Chili Vs #5 Eastridge</h2>   <p>A win against Greece Arcadia, kicked off the season for the Spartans. Two straight losses followed at the hands of Irondequoit, and Churchville-Chili. The final four games, ended with the Spartans finishing 3-1, with a loss to Canandaigua Academy 34-8, and three wins over teams like Wilson Magnet, Eastridge, and Greece Athena to end the season. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Spartans To Watch</h2>   <figure class="wp-block-table is-style-stripes"><table class="has-fixed-layout"><tbody><tr><td>2027 QB [player_tooltip player_id='741201' first='Nathaniel' last='McKinney'] </td></tr></tbody></table></figure>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">X-Factor</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">The QB, is listed as a Victor QB, but plays for Gates Chili. He has put together a solid season, and in games when he plays well, his offense scores. I like McKinney, and he will likely rise from the watch list soon. If Gates Chili wants to win, they need a big time performance from their Junior QB. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Key To The Game</h2>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><strong>QB Play:</strong> Consistency is key. f the Spartans want to move to the Semi-Finals, they need consistency at the helm. The QB play, will be a huge factor in this game for Gates Chili. </li> </ul>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Eastridge Breakdown</h2>   <p>The Lancers finished the season 2-5, and claimed the #5 seed. After an opening season upset 7-6 over East, Eastridge Suffered a major 50-2 loss at the hands of Monroe. Week three saw a bounce back, where the Lancers took down Honeoye Falls-Lima in a close 32-27 win. Batavia, Gates Chili, Bishop Timon St. Jude, and Brockport ended the Eastridge season with four straight loses. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lancers To Watch</h2>   <figure class="wp-block-table is-style-stripes"><table class="has-fixed-layout"><tbody><tr><td><strong>2027 ATH Justin Weathers</strong> </td></tr><tr><td><strong>2026 ATH Anthony McKinney</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>2027 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1539046' first='Myles' last='Halmond'] </strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>2027 DE Myron Stamps</strong></td></tr></tbody></table></figure>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Key To The Game</h2>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><strong>Their Game</strong>: Despite having only two wins this season, both wins are extremely impressive. The combined record of East, and Honeoye Falls-Lima, is 7-7. The Lancers have played good competition this season and comepeted. In a game where they are the underdog, playing their brand of football, will be key in picking up an upset win. </li> </ul>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Game Prediction</h2>   <p>I have Gates Chili winning <strong>21-20</strong>. I see a close game, and Eastridge, will definitely compete till the last whistle, and should not be taken for granted in this game. I see a potential upset brewing, and will not be surprised if the Eastridge Lancers are celebrating tonight. </p>
