TIFFIN, Iowa - Clear Creek Amana is a program inching closer to getting over the hump. It's just not quite there yet.

That showed Friday here at the Clippers' stadium. They struck first with a long touchdown pass against highly-ranked Newton, but fell, 31-19, in the end.

The reason for optimism in CCA country is a core that is building towards bigger achievements. Here's a closer look at a half dozen dudes standing out this season:

Seals flashed upside as a sophomore in 2024. He caught 12 balls for 191 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed once for 16 yards. He accounted for 12 solo tackles and an interception on defense, and helped out on special teams. This fall, he's impacting all three phases at a higher level. Seals had hauled in 26 catches for 331 yards and three scores with 13 solo tackles and a fumble recovery through seven games. He's averaged 40.6 yards on 10 kick returns with two touchdowns, and averaged 14.8 yards on four punt returns. Seals can be an asset in the return game on the next level. It's up to the college if it likes him better on offense or defense. In the slot, he can create in space and make people miss. The quick bursts that aid him as a returner, shine through when he has the ball in his hands. The quickness also works well on defense. He's smooth in back pedaling with fluid hip movement.

Schlemme wasted little time in catching my attention when I watched Clear Creek Amana face Newton on Oct. 10, 2025. The senior hauled in a long touchdown pass on the Clippers' first series. He beat tight coverage against a good DB, won the ball and sprinted the final 40 yards into the end zone. Schlemme also was among CCA leaders with 7.0 tackles, six of which were of the solo variety. A state title in the long jump helps highlight his high-end athleticism, which is readily apparent on the gridiron. Schlemme utilizes it and long arms to make difficult catches or close in during coverage. His projectable frame can add strength and mass without the loss of the speed, quickness and agility that lead to success already. Schlemme is a prospect for colleges effective at developing talent and seeking upside.

Bollers was making his first varsity start at QB, replacing an injured senior against one of the state's top teams. The sophomore handled himself well and showed maturity in not trying to do too much with his natural gifts, which include a strong arm, speed and quickness. Bollers finished 14 of 26 for 194 yards and a touchdown against one interception. His highlight play came on the first series, when he put his talents on display in dropping a dime on a receiver for a long TD. It's really just a matter of development through reps for Bollers, who also stands out on the baseball diamond. In-game experience will help maximize a complete skill set. Athleticism keeps open doors to other positions, but it's well worth seeing what plays out behind center first.

Dao jumped onto the Prep Redzone radar two years ago at a 7-on-7 tournament in Nashville. The performance has proven prophetic with his development into a key contributor as a Clear Creek Amana sophomore in 2025. When I scouted Dao during a game against highly-ranked Newton on Oct. 10, he led the Clippers with 7.5 tackles. If you were wondering about his speed and athleticism, the 10th-grader averaged 20.5 yards on a pair of kick returns. As you would imagine from that diverse set of skills, Dao stands out for his speed and ability to cover a lot of ground on defense. It works well at linebacker in the CCA system and might be his home on the next level, but his abilities also would translate into the safety spot in certain schemes.

Schrock has steadily improved during his time in high school and was playing his best football when I scouted him during a game against Newton on Oct. 10, 2025. A team captain, the senior recorded a pair of solo tackles, including one for loss, while adding a sack. Schrock stands out for his physicality and motor. He welcomes the contact and wearing down opponents. He separates well from blocks through strength and violent hands. Schrock runs well with straight-line speed. Pre-snap recognition and the post-snap carrying out of assignments indicates he's prepared for what's coming his way. Schrock could help plenty of schools on the next level, defensively, with the bonus of special teams' contributions.

I wrote about Schrock during the offseason after watching his junior highlights. He impressed me with his feel for playing the linebacker position. Speed and athleticism gave him the flexibility of lining up at different spots one the second level. That remained the case when I scouted him against highly-ranked Newton on Oct. 10, 2025. He'd developed physically, adding strength, and advanced his game from a technical standpoint. Schrock played fast and flowed well to the football playing within the scheme. He stands out for finding open gaps and using his quickness and hand fighting to get off of blocks. Schrock still has room to grow his frame and his game, giving colleges someone to work with and develop.
