Monsignor Farrell Film Study

The Monsignor Lions took down Iona Prep Friday Night in a 28-21 Catholic League Matchup. The Sophomore looked extremely poised throughout the game, and displayed outstanding decision making skills throughout the game.   The Read Option, with Moye was deadly Friday Night, and used his legs with amazing strength. Through the air he had three touchdowns, and completed 75% of his passes against a strong defense. His arm strength and accuracy were showcased, and I see him as a national recruit shortly.     The twin brother, Braxton had himself a nice game for the Lions. He accumulated 112 yards, and one touchdown through the air in what was one of his best games this season.   Moye had clean route running, and had to make multiple contested catches throughout the game. The Lions WR, displayed outstanding strength, and was tricky to tackle after the catch. He will stay the top WR in the state in 2028.     [player_tooltip player_id='805722' first='Kevin' last='Gumb Jr'], has been a big factor in the success for Monsignor Farrell. The Senior RB, has opened up the pass game, with elite runs throughout the season, and continued against a strong defense.   His physicality is the biggest thing about him. He is a strong runner who attacks the ground with every step. He found the A,B gap multiple time on his runs, and displayed good footwork with cuts throughout the night.     The LB Core, for Monsignor Farrell had a busy day, with a mostly rushing attack from the Gaels. Stallone was the leader for the Lions and had himself a great game.   Stallone, displayed outstanding pursuit, and vision throughout the game. I liked his tackling form, and he displayed good strength when meeting players in gaps. He is a smart player, and displayed good footwork for the Lions.     Pasqualone, played both sides against Iona Prep, and once again was a major factor in a win for the Lions.   Pasqualone had a key stop before the half, that forced a FG that was missed. He is a good tackler, and has good pursuit on the defensive side of the ball. On Offense, his speed was killer all night. He had one catch, where he burned the defense for a TD, and displayed a good first step off the line, and acceleration, to gain separation.     The Offensive Line for Monsignor Farrell, had a clean game. They created holes, and gave up three sacks to a very good Iona Defense.   [player_tooltip player_id='939613' first='Carlo' last='Della Ragione'] was the main guy I was watching on this Offensive Line. Della Ragione, had exceptional strength, and found himself creating holes across the line allowing Gumb Jr to run for big gains. He had good footwork, and showed good strength and leverage on the line.     Costanzo is one of my top prospects in 2028, and his performance against Iona Prep, helped prove his deserving of a top recruit.   The ATH, played mainly in the secondary for the Lions. Costanzo had a tough matchup with guys like Pirrello, and Wolf lined up against him. Costanzo was an outstanding tackler, and a hard hitter. In coverage, he showed great footwork, and a good pursuit throughout the game.     Savino was part of a Lions Defense, that dominated the Gaels. Guzman was only sacked twice, but was forced out of the pocket, and faced pressure on multiple occasions.   Savino has excellent footwork, and is fast off the line. I like his motor, and he is a physical pass rusher. The Senior had a good blend of leverage and hands, in his rushing, and made it past the line to disrupt the QB, on multiple occasions.     Tait is a receiver I have yet to see much from this season for the Lions. The Senior had himself a nice gamer, with a catch and a TD in the win.   Despite being a senior, Tait impressed me. He had great footowork, and an exceptional first step that gained him separation on his TD Catch. He displayed solid route running, and made sharp cuts with good footwork.     Lombardi is a Senior who had an impressive game, and held his own against a stacked D-Line. The Guard/Center was a big factor in the success of the run game.   He made holes open across the A-Gap. The Senior displayed outstanding strength for his size, and used his leverage to hold off this defense. He was used as a lead blocker in a few plays, and made key blocks to extend plays. I like his use of hands, and his placement stopped potential moves from opposing lineman.
