Midseason Power Scores: X Factors, Oakland Patriots

<p>Oakland is the second-ranked team in the Big School Power Poll by Prep Redzone Tennessee, <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2025/10/midseason-power-scores-x-factors-baylor-red-raiders/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">behind only Baylor</a>, and they have a team filled with playmakers at every level of the field on both offense and defense, led by a couple of two-way standouts in [player_tooltip player_id='856867' first='Craig' last='Tutt'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1281472' first='Joel' last='Wyatt'].</p>   <p>One of the best programs in the state under the tutelage of head coach Kevin Creasy, the Patriots goal every single season is to win the state championship in 6A, and that has not changed this year.</p>   <p>Oakland has a <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2025/09/four-2029-linemen-with-intriguing-upside/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">strong young group of trenches</a> this season and paired with dynamic quarterback play, this is arguably the most well-rounded team under Creasy.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/shaynep_media/status/1969177333044007405 </div></figure>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Oakland 2026 Running Back/Safety [player_tooltip player_id='856867' first='Craig' last='Tutt']</strong></h2>   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepredzone.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2024/11/ctutt2.webp?w=768" alt="" class="wp-image-1568743" style="width:504px;height:auto" /></figure>   <p>The veteran [player_tooltip player_id='856867' first='Craig' last='Tutt'] is the leader of this Patriots squad and is a powerful force as a runner both in between the tackles and in open space, giving a core piece to build a run-first offense around.</p>   <p>He is also a standout defender as he is committed to Ole Miss as a safety prospect, and they use him in a variety of ways, especially as a physical nickel this season.</p>   <p>He can be used all over the defense and Oakland has taken advantage of that versatility using him as a safety, nickel, corner, and linebacker, helping lead a nasty defensive unit. His versatility shows up on both sides of the ball and is the leader of the championship-caliber squad.</p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Oakland Quarterbacks [player_tooltip player_id='866735' first='Donte' last='Cameron'] and [player_tooltip player_id='424644' first='Kam' last='Morton']</strong></h2>   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepredzone.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/user-uploads/Kam-Morton-TN-29-Fire-Ice-crop-400x263-1761190955.jpg?w=400" alt="" class="wp-image-1972402" style="width:501px;height:auto" /></figure>   <p>The high school has the most dynamic quarterback room they probably ever had held and Creasy does a good job of rotating the duo in his effort to maximize an complete offense.</p>   <p>2027 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='866735' first='Donte' last='Cameron'] is a dynamic runner that can change direction at will and that allows for him to be a dynamic presence in the option aspects of the offense, while also taking steps forward as a passer to the point where he can make plays as a true dual-threat for the team.</p>   <p>2029 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='424644' first='Kam' last='Morton'] has the potential to be one of the best quarterbacks in the state very soon with his lively arm, impressive anticipation and touch, and great accuracy. His arm opens up the passing game and they use him to attack the field vertically with a couple long, explosive receiving options.</p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Oakland 2026 EDGE/OLB [player_tooltip player_id='1661898' first='Traivon' last='Jackson']</strong></h2>   <p>Oakland has moved players around the defensive box to attack matchups and create havoc constantly in the backfield and around the line of scrimmage, causing opposing offenses to force the ball out quickly, and outside linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1661898' first='Traivon' last='Jackson'] is a large part of that success.</p>   <p>He leads the team in sacks, tackles for loss, and fumble recoveries in addition to second in total tackles, giving Creasy a versatile weapon to use around the edges of the box due to his <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2025/09/five-2027-linebackers-and-edge-rushers-with-breakout-potential/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">breakout season off the edge</a>.</p>   <p>He will need to continue his impressive play and creating a strong edge as the Patriots make their playoff push.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/OaklandRCS/status/1961642655021945127 </div></figure>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Oakland 2026 Safety/Receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1281472' first='Joel' last='Wyatt']</strong></h2>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1281472' first='Joel' last='Wyatt'] transferred in to Oakland this offseason after his school shut down their football program and his length plus athleticism has added a new layer to both sides of the ball for the team.</p>   <p>As a safety, his 6-foot-4 frame and athleticism when attacking downhill is very prevalent as he comes down as an enforcer to deliver big hits throughout the game and on special teams. His length allows for him to glide across the field quickly and break up throws, especially when in a zone concept.</p>   <p>On offense, he rotates in for a handful of plays per game, but they are high-impact ones as Morton will attack the defense vertically and attempt explosive plays when targeting Wyatt, allowing for the Tennessee commit to lead the team in yards per catch and receiving touchdowns.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/shaynep_media/status/1945985564299108698 </div></figure>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Oakland 2026 Safety/Athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1603958' first='Justis' last='Haggard']</strong></h2>   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepredzone.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2025/10/JHprz-crop-1639x1076-1761191249.jpeg?w=800" alt="" class="wp-image-1972410" style="width:542px;height:auto" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo: Drew Toennies Prep Redzone Tennessee</figcaption></figure>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1603958' first='Justis' last='Haggard'] was another key transfer this offseason and is used very similarly to Tutt, giving two dynamic and strong weapons on both sides of the ball for the Patriots.</p>   <p>As a tailback, he is a tough runner who picks up the tough yards up the middle of the defense, providing a thunder complement to the dynamic running backs in the room.</p>   <p>Defensively, he is used as a safety, nickel, and linebacker as well rotating around to make key defensive stops with his physicality and athleticism, allowing for Oakland to do a lot of different things with the same personnel and pre-snap looks.</p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Oakland 2028 Receiver JaVonni "Gio" Malone</strong></h2>   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepredzone.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2025/10/GioMalone.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1972413" style="width:512px;height:auto" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo: Drew Toennies Prep Redzone Tennessee</figcaption></figure>   <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1030094' first='JaVonni' last='Malone'] is a young and exciting receiver for the Patriots that has flashed strong play from the summer and into the season with a big, strong frame and the athleticism required to push downfield.</p>   <p>He has been the every-down receiving option for the team, providing a reliable strong target working over the middle of the field for both quarterbacks, and has been a favorite for Morton when he is throwing the ball.</p>   <p>He will need to become more consistent when tracking the ball downfield, but he has the chance to be a reliable weapon for either quarterback and is someone the coaching staff trusts to make plays on both sides of the ball, even though they have not had to use him on defense to this point.</p>   <p>He is an <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2025/09/oakland-defeats-siegel-scouting-top-standouts/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">underrated receiver in the 2028 class</a> to watch inside the state of Tennessee and he will be crucial to spreading defenses out despite Oakland primarily wanting to run the ball down the throat of a defense.</p>
