Naseem accounted for 133 of the Steelers 147 yards from scrimmage. Naseem also got the second TD of the game on a short plunge. He is a big, physical runner with good vision and solid speed. He wore down the Flyers defense with 21 carries then sealed the deal on a 43 yard run in the 4th quarter. He later had an INT from his LB position.

Games are won and lost in the trenches and Kurt was the dominant force that led the way. He played on both sides of the ball and terrorized Maryvale's offense all night. Stevens then went on offense where he anchored an OL that ran for 147 yards, scored 2 TDs and 2- two point conversions. He should be in the Trench Trophy conversation.

Breakout Player to Watch

Although Maryvale couldn't get their offense going in this game, Finnegan stood out as a player that will be involved. Only in is sophomore season, Connor made his varsity debut this year. He is an exceptional athlete that can run, catch and do whatever is needed. From watching his freshman tape on JV last year and what is missing from the Flyers offense this year, they may turn to Connor as their QB at some point this season.

Akron @ Maritime-Tapestry

This was by far the best game in Section VI this weekend. Clash of two C-North teams that came down to the wire. It was a defensive struggle back and forth with a 14-14 tie at the end of the first half. Not another point was registered until 58 seconds left in regulation when Akron went up 22-14. But the Falcons, as they did all game, responded quickly by scoring 37 seconds later. Then in overtime, Akron made their fourth-4th down stop of the day before securing their win on a 2 yard TD run.

Player of the Game

Miller was explosive on both sides of the ball in this game. Right after Maritime took an 8-0 lead, Collin scored on a 50 yard catch and run where he showed good speed in the open field. Later on in the first half, Miller also showed his bulldozing ability with a short yardage score that gave Akron their first lead of the night. As well as making plays on defense, including one of their 4th down stands, he definitely stood out as the best player on the field.

X Factor

I first came across Jaylin as a WR and he showed a lot of explosiveness. But an off season transfer would put Coleman in the QB position; where he has led the Seahawks to their best start in their existence. He is so fast and dangerous in the open field but also has a strong arm. Jaylin was responsible for all 22 of Maritime's points. He got the scoring off with a 30 yard scramble for a TD then followed by running it in for 2. Later in the second quarter, he showed his incredible deep ball accuracy with a 70 yard TD to [player_tooltip player_id='1513261' first='Davion' last='Blackwell']. Coleman then turned into a leader with 58 seconds left. He led the Seahawks down the field and scored from 15 yards out and snagged the game tying two point conversion in just 37 seconds.

Breakout Player

Siska could easily be the Player of the Game. But with him being a sophomore and a first year varsity starter, being the breakout player seems appropriate. Cole showed a lot of poise and athleticism for a sophomore. He hit Miller on a nice 50 yard TD on a swing pattern then threw the 2-point conversion to [player_tooltip player_id='1345194' first='Blake' last='Gerstung']. Cole then showed his athletic ability when he went on to run in the go ahead TD with 58 seconds left as well as the game winning TD in overtime.
