<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Future Stars Middle School Game of the Week: Anne Chestnut vs. Spring Lake</h3>   The stage was set for an early-season clash of powerhouse programs, and it did not disappoint. Spring Lake Middle School came out swinging, controlling the first quarter with a punishing ground attack and stingy defense that gave them a quick 14–0 lead. For a moment, it felt like the game might get out of hand. But Anne Chestnut had other plans. Showing toughness, discipline, and resilience beyond their years, the Chargers clamped down defensively and found their rhythm on offense. From that point forward, it was all Anne Chestnut — 30 unanswered points later, they walked off the field with a statement victory, 30–14, over a talented Spring Lake squad.    Chris Randall made his impact felt early, scoring one of Spring Lake's touchdowns and giving his team momentum in the first quarter. On offense, he showed quickness and vision, finding space and finishing runs with toughness. Defensively, he was just as valuable — flying to the ball, delivering physical tackles, and showing his ability to disrupt plays in the open field. Randall's two-way effort highlighted why he is one of the team's most dependable athletes.     Dior Foster answered the call for Spring Lake with the team's second touchdown and proved to be a force on defense. His size and strength were major assets, especially against the run, where he filled gaps and made it difficult for Anne Chestnut to find consistent rushing lanes early. Foster's combination of physicality and toughness makes him a cornerstone for the Spring Lake roster, with the ability to impact the game both in the trenches and as a finisher on offense.     Khayel King brought energy and leadership every time he stepped on the field. Used primarily at linebacker, he was a consistent presence on defense, stepping up to make stops when his team needed them most. King's voice and intensity were felt across the game, especially on special teams where he set the tone with effort and hustle. Though Spring Lake didn't get the result they wanted, King's play and leadership stood out as a bright spot.     Tymiere Bullock was a key part of Anne Chestnut's “three-headed monster” rushing attack that fueled their comeback win. The biggest of the group, Bullock punished defenders with a powerful running style that wore Spring Lake down as the game went on. His combination of size, strength, and vision made him difficult to bring down, keeping drives alive and setting the tone physically. With his frame and natural talent, Bullock looks like the type of player who could step into a high school varsity backfield immediately without needing time at the JV level.     TJ Williams was the spark Anne Chestnut needed, and his performance earned him recognition as the game's Most Impactful Player. Part of the Chargers' three-headed rushing attack, Williams brought energy and confidence that rippled through the entire team. Once he found his rhythm, Anne Chestnut's offense never looked back, piling on 30 unanswered points. Williams is an extremely talented athlete whose leadership and playmaking ability make him a name to watch moving forward.     Edward Owens anchored a dominant Anne Chestnut defense that completely shut out Spring Lake in the second half. Big, strong, and surprisingly agile for his size, Owens made life difficult for the offensive line all game long. He showed a willingness to take on double teams, freeing up teammates to make plays while still finding ways to create disruption himself. Owens' presence in the trenches was a major factor in Anne Chestnut's comeback victory.     Don Evans was a sparkplug on the defensive front for Anne Chestnut, bringing energy and disruption throughout the game. He flashed explosiveness by bursting through the line on several plays, forcing Spring Lake to adjust their blocking schemes. By the second half, Evans was commanding double teams, which allowed the linebackers behind him to flow freely and make plays. His effort and ability to create pressure up front were key to the defensive dominance that sealed Anne Chestnut's comeback.     Josiah Smothers was the closer in Anne Chestnut's three-headed rushing attack, delivering the dagger when the game was still in the balance. With explosive speed and great vision, Smothers routinely found daylight, often 10–15 yards past the defense before they realized he had the ball. His long touchdown run in the third quarter stretched the lead and broke Spring Lake's momentum, sealing the Chargers' dominant comeback. Smothers' big-play ability makes him a perfect complement to the power and energy of his backfield teammates.     Semaj Joyner was everywhere for Spring Lake, making an impact on both sides of the ball. His speed and toughness stood out, and he consistently rose to the challenge no matter the situation. The coaching staff leaned heavily on him throughout the game, a clear sign of their trust in his ability, and Joyner delivered with effort and production. His versatility and coachability make him one of the team's most valuable young players.
