BGA Shuts Out Chattanooga Prep (Game Recap/Top Performers)

<p>To kick off week eight of Tennessee high school football action, I stopped by Battle Ground Academy in Franklin for a Thursday night non-district showdown between the Wildcats and the Chattanooga Prep Sentinels. After catching BGA's 44-0 shutout of Chattanooga Prep, here's my full game recap as well as my top performers.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Performers</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">In the first place spot on my list is [player_tooltip player_id='1537396' first='Maddox' last='Porter'], a wide receiver at Battle Ground Academy. Porter made a huge difference for the Wildcats offensively, hauling in a number of impressive passes throughout the contest, including one touchdown. What impressed me about Porter down the stretch was his outstanding speed as well as his ability to shake tackles after the catch.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Establishing himself on the defensive side of the ball was [player_tooltip player_id='1177837' first='Ayden' last='Woodruff'], a defensive lineman/offensive lineman at Battle Ground Academy. Woodruff was a nightmare for Chattanooga Prep to contain as the sophomore standout could easily read the offense and punch his way past the offensive line to make the stop. Woodruff also impressed me with his ability to conistently apply pressure on the quarterback.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Another sophomore standout to make himself known was [player_tooltip player_id='1030085' first='Maximus' last='Curry'], a wide receiver at Battle Ground Academy. Curry caught my attention with his ability to get wide open in the backfield, break tackles on the run, and blast past the entire defense en route to the endzone. On top of electric speed after the snap, Curry impressed me with his ability to juke out defenders to get open for the long ball.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Establishing himself at the helm of the Wildcats' offense was [player_tooltip player_id='914547' first='Kaedyn' last='Marable'], a quarterback at Battle Ground Academy. Marable was locked in under center, proving he wasn't afraid to sling the rock. Marable threw a number of impressive passes, including multiple touchdowns. Marable's quick execution, strong footwork, and his ability to hit his receivers in stride made a huge difference all night long.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Making the biggest difference offensively for the Wildcats was [player_tooltip player_id='902961' first='Jayden' last='Cannon'], a linebacker/edge at Battle Ground Academy. Cannon was impossible to contain down the stretch, getting wide open for not one, but two touchdowns on the evening. In addition to excellent size and speed, Cannon stood out with his durable edge, proving he could withstand contact on his way to the house.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Game Recap</h2>   <p>BGA was locked in from start to finish as [player_tooltip player_id='914547' first='Kaedyn' last='Marable'] quickly connected with [player_tooltip player_id='902961' first='Jayden' last='Cannon'] for the touchdown pass to give the Wildcats an early 7-0 lead over the Sentinels. On the Wildcats' next drive, another touchdown pass found it's way into the hands of Cannon as BGA extended their lead to 14-0 with 8:13 remaining in the first quarter. BGA was back on the scoreboard at the 3:20 mark of the first quarter as freshman wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1537396' first='Maddox' last='Porter'] hauled in the clutch pass from Marable, broke the defense with his footwork, and blasted into the endzone for the touchdown. The Wildcats also went on to pick up a safety to extend their lead with just 25.7 seconds left in the first quarter. The Wildcats would close out the contest as junior BGA quarterback Bo Bryan connected with Braxton Joki for the touchdown. BGA went on to win the game 44-0, shutting out Chattanooga Prep.</p>
