6A Oregon: Midseason All-State 1st and 2nd Team (Offense)

The Midseason All-State Offense and Defense is done in collaboration with Jordan Johnson. This is not just a recruiting-based list, although most of the individuals listed are ranked among the top athletes in their respective regions. As with most all-state lists, team success is a heavy factor in whether or not an individual is selected. At quarterback, Mountainside senior [player_tooltip player_id='1232699' first='Cade' last='Mitchell'], West Linn junior [player_tooltip player_id='937233' first='Sloan' last='Baker'] and Willamette sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='904208' first='Zeke' last='Thomas'] claimed first team.   Not only is each arguably the top quarterback prospect in his respective class, they are having monster seasons.   This is an historic year at the running back position in Oregon, so it should come as no surprise to find Lakeridge senior [player_tooltip player_id='284119' first='Ansu' last='Sanoe'] and Lake Oswego senior LaMarcus Bell on the ist.   Writing his name into the record books, Jesuit junior [player_tooltip player_id='1591586' first='Luke' last='Ortner'] broke his school's record for single-game rushing yardage, but has been on a tear all season.   Glencoe's [player_tooltip player_id='1232743' first='Daniel' last='Heninger'] seems to flirt with the 300-yard mark every week.   Wide receiver may have been the easiest position to sort through, as the top tier has seemed to separate from a loaded - and very talented pack.   [player_tooltip player_id='769925' first='Oliver' last='Luebkert'] leads the state in most receiving categories, while Oregon City junior [player_tooltip player_id='1242623' first='Cavan' last='Rogers'] and Clackamas senior [player_tooltip player_id='1585698' first='Justin' last='Larsen'] are having big years.   Nelson junior [player_tooltip player_id='937176' first='Malachi' last='Garlington'] is having a breakout season and is one of the biggest stories in the state of Oregon this year. This stock is soaring - and for good reason.   Lake Oswego senior [player_tooltip player_id='457009' first='Sam' last='Vyhlidal'] returned as a two-way all-state player last year, and he again finds himself on the list at tight tend.   Along the offensive line, readers will see plenty of familiar names - and top players on top-5 teams: West Linn senior [player_tooltip player_id='769924' first='Kalani' last='Ioapo'], Lake Oswego senior [player_tooltip player_id='1525160' first='Jackson' last='Graetz'], Lakeridge senior [player_tooltip player_id='914288' first='Carter' last='Paul'], West Linn senior [player_tooltip player_id='1110963' first='Aiden' last='Jakubauskas'] and Jesuit senior [player_tooltip player_id='770046' first='Quinn' last='Wicklow'].   Do-it-all Willamette playmaker [player_tooltip player_id='1654724' first='Hunter' last='Vaughn'] contributes in so many ways he was an easy inclusion as an all-purpose contributor.   The second-team all-state squad is also quite talented, and it was difficult to keep many of those players from climbing to the first-team list.   It should be noted that the end of the regular season and playoffs could see plenty of movement.   A pair of recent injuries are likely to bounce out two second-team all-state guys by season's end that deserve some love: Oregon City senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1673573' first='Kaeden' last='Emerson'] and West Linn all-purpose playmaker [player_tooltip player_id='937113' first='Shane' last='Peters'].   Emerson was clearly having an all-state-caliber season before breaking his collarbone last week, while Peters was flirting with first-team status before his season came to an end.   Both players have college futures, and while Peters is likely to come back with a monster senior campaign, the prep career of Emerson has likely come to an end.   It was a pleasure watching the Oregon City star do his thing this fall, and small-college programs would be wise to give his tape a long look.
