Week 4 Recap- Standout Defensive Performances Across the State

What a week!   Today, we're watching some of our Standout Performers on the defensive side of the ball. These prospects dominated this week and have been putting together some impressive seasons- we're all going to have to watch out for them moving forward.   With that being said, make sure you watch their film below!    [player_tooltip player_id='1349522' first='Cayden' last='Dees'] is a talented DL/OL prospect out of Montgomery Catholic who had a huge performance for his defense this week.   "Although we've evaluated Dees at OL, we haven't seen him play on defense, and man did he impress. Dees is a dominant DT/NG who wins at the line of scrimmage seemingly every snap. He explodes off the line, plays with great leverage and power, and easily puts OL on their heels to get into the backfield and cause chaos.   I'm really impressed with Dees' versatility. He can create tons of problems rushing the passer but can also hold his own against the run, making tons of plays behind the line of scrimmage. We're all going to have to watch out for him the rest of this season."   Dees went off against Charles Henderson, recording 8 total tackles (3 for loss, 3 solo), 3 sacks, 6 hurries, and one PBU.   Dees was completely unblockable this week. He's having a heck of a season on the defensive line, and last night may have been his best showing yet. [player_tooltip player_id='1622124' first='Ty' last='Sims'] is a talented senior DB out of Gadsden City who's coming off a huge performance this past Friday   “Sims is highly athletic and does a great job utilizing his speed, instincts, and hands at the safety position. He can cover a lot of ground and consistently makes impressive sideline-to-sideline plays against the run and pass, coming up with huge stops all over the field. Sims is great in coverage- he isn't easily baited, doesn't get beat deep, and can get his hands on the ball to break up and haul in passes.   While Sims is great in coverage, he impressed me just as much with his run defense. He's a heat-seeking missile from the secondary who is excellent at finding, pursuing, and taking down the ball carrier no matter where he lined up pre-snap.“   Sims dominated against Hazel Green, forced 2 INTs and 3 PBUs, didn't allow any catches, and even blocked a punt.   I've been a big fan of Sims since earlier this year. He's a talented safety who deserves more eyes. Make sure you check out some of his clips from this week; you'll be impressed.      [player_tooltip player_id='1225913' first='Karlos' last='May'] is a dominant DL from Ramsay who put together one of his career-best performances this week.   “May is a relentless pass rusher with tons of potential- he has great size and speed he uses to completely overwhelm opposing OL, fighting off double teams (sometimes even triple) to get to the QB and make plays. It's impressive watching May rush the passer- more often than not, Ramsay only rushes 3 and still can produce tons of pressure/sacks in the backfield with how dominant May is upfront.   May is also a terrific run defender. He completely closes up rushing lanes by himself, generating great penetration on the LOS and taking down the ball carrier for little to no gain every time offenses run the ball his way.“   May was unstoppable in his team's 40-7 win over John Carroll Catholic. He racked up 2 sacks, 3 TFLs, and a sweet INT he returned for sic.   You have to check out some of May's film from this week. He completely dominated the line of scrimmage all game. I'm excited to see more from him this season.      [player_tooltip player_id='1902424' first='Dagan' last='Jones'] is a talented senior LB from Fairhope who dominated in his defense's near shutout over Robertsdale this week.   "Jones is a heat-seeking missile at MLB. He's quick on his feet, has great instincts, and consistently flies around the field to create huge stops for his defense. I love watching him in pursuit; he plays with terrific effort and will work from sideline to sideline to create plays.   I'm most impressed with how Jones can get after the quarterback. He's a talented blitzer who can generate serious pressure/sacks, making him an every-down threat for opposing offenses."   Jones was all over the field Friday night, racking up 11 total tackles (5 for loss), 3 sacks, and two forced fumbles.   I hadn't watched Jones before this week, but man, I'm impressed. He's a really versatile backer who can hurt offenses in tons of different ways. Be sure to check out some of his clips from this week, they're absolutely worth the watch.      [player_tooltip player_id='1670139' first='Nikelen' last='Linson'] is a talented LB from Valley who was all over the field in his team's 34-21 win over Marbury.   "Linson is an every-down playmaker on defense who can create huge plays against the run and pass. He has great instincts and always knows where he needs to be to make the greatest impact. With his speed and tackling, Linson constantly flies around the field to make sideline-to-sideline plays, causing headaches for opposing offenses.   In coverage, Linson is quick to react and has the ball skills to track and break on passes for some impressive interceptions. If I'm playing QB, I'm not trying to force the ball over the middle- Linson has shown he will make you pay for it."   Linson came up huge for his team's defense, racking up 11 total tackles (3 for loss, 8 solo), and one PBU.   We've been really impressed with Linson this year.
