Scouting the 2027 Quarterback Class: Stars, Sleepers, and Secrets

<p>The junior season is perhaps the most important year for recruits to put a strong resume on tape for college coaches to see and evaluate their games and the level of prospect they project them to turn into at the next level.</p>   <p>We begin a new series that takes a look at some of the intriguing names to monitor in the state of Tennessee for the 2027 recruiting cycle at each position, starting with the quarterback position.</p>   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">SCOUTING THE STARS</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='378901' first='Andre' last='Adams'] is a junior quarterback with good to very good size, top-notch athleticism, and clean mechanics and is beginning to see the game become effortless for him, breaking state records for his high school.</p>   <p>He has built on a very impressive Under Armour Nashville performance with his mechanics, displaying good footwork and a natural throwing motion that can layer any throw in to a receiver that a staff would ask from him.</p>   <p>He is a dynamic athlete, creating explosive running plays out of run-pass options and scrambles. He is a natural leader who turned down other opportunities to stay with his guys and has been a primary factor in elevating the team to an undefeated first half of the season.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/connersmith04/status/1969433018201776150 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1142902' first='Cooper' last='Newman'] is a junior quarterback with good size and athleticism in addition to a solid arm that allowed for him to lead his high school to a state championship last season.</p>   <p>He is a smooth athlete who is effective at distributing the ball out to his playmakers quickly and giving them a chance to add yards after the catch, especially off play action.</p>   <p>The athleticism allows for him to throw on the move or pick up yards as a scrambler. It will be intriguing to see how he progresses throughout the remainder of his junior year.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='834810' first='Crews' last='Jenkins'] is a solid quarterback who can locate passes in the intermediate and down the field to the talented receivers he has at his disposal.</p>   <p>He impressed at the Under Armour Nashville event, consistently placing his passes in a spot in which the receiver could win his one-on-one battle, something he does well at the high school level as well.</p>   <p>He does lack top-end size and zip on his passes, which could hold him back at the next level, but if he improves on that front as he gets more experience under his belt, he could begin to add more interest.</p>    <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">SCOUTING THE SLEEPER</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='1535798' first='Connor' last='Jenne'] is an intriguing prospect with very good size, arm talent, and athleticism that finds ways as a playmaker to help his team win games.</p>   <p>He effectively runs an up-tempo offense for his high school, quickly working through reads to get the ball out to his playmakers, sticking in the pocket through getting knocked down. He has the athleticism to make plays with his legs as a scrambler if necessary and has experience on the basketball court.</p>   <p>He has shown improved touch when layering throws in against a defense and continues to improve as a player the more he plays.
