PRZ AL's Game of the Week: Hoover (1-1) vs. Hillcrest (2-0)

After a thrilling Week 0, we're previewing a huge Week 2 matchup between Hoover (1-1) and Hillcrest (2-0)   Both these teams have STACKED rosters, so we're discussing who we think everyone should look out for this week.   As always, check out these prospects' film below! You won't want to miss out on this group.   Let's dive in:   <h1 class="wp-block-heading">OFFENSE</h1>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">HOOVER</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1610270' first='Kaleb' last='Freeman'] is a talented passer who has opened his junior season with back-to-back impressive performances.   “Freeman is so hard for defenses to stop- he's excellent at maneuvering through the pocket, is patient scanning the field, and consistently uses his arm talent to throw accurate passes at every level of the field.   Johnson throws at a high velocity and can fit the ball into some tight windows- making impressive hole shot throws over the top and across the middle of the field frequently on tape. What really stands out with Freeman's tape is his quick and dependable processing – he sees the field well and makes quick and correct reads every time he drops back to pass.“   Freeman completed 16/19 passes for 160 yards and 3 TDs against a talented Spain Park defense last week. You can see the chemistry and trust between his pass catchers and him develop more and more each week.   Hillcrest will have to find a way to generate pressure on the QB; you can't let a guy like Freeman have all day. Check out this TD throw he completed this past week:      [player_tooltip player_id='1604821' first='Jeremiah' last='Tabb'] is a dominant WR in Hoover's passing attack that Hillcrest will have to look out for this week.   “At 6'2 200, Tabb is a massive threat on the outside- he's got great size, is highly athletic, and can attack secondaries at every level of the field.   Tabb has a great set of hands and thrives in contested situations. He's great in one-on-one situations and consistently fights off defenders to pull away some huge receptions downfield. Tabb also has great YAC ability- he sees the field really well and uses his speed and elusiveness to add extra yards after the catch.“   Tabb put together an impressive performance against Spain Park last week. He was able to attack multiple levels of the field and create some explosive plays in the open field/red zone.   Hillcrest will have a lot on its hands trying to slow down Freeman/Tabb. They're both seriously talented and are coming off a great game last week. "Shambley is a quick processor who protects the ball and accurately delivers it to his WRs every time he drops back- Shambley is excellent at seeing the field and takes only what defenses give him, never putting the ball in harm's way and always finding the open man.   On top of that, Shambley has some serious arm talent he uses to place the ball anywhere on the field. He has great arm strength and accuracy and frequently makes difficult throws downfield and over the tops of defenses.   Shambley is also really mobile and can create plays on the ground with his legs- he's quick, has good speed, and can hurt defenses on designed runs and by scrambling out of the pocket."   Shambley has been on fire over the last few weeks. Last week against Sparkman, he completed 11/19 passes for 232 yards and 4 TDs with 7 carries for 70 yards and one TD on the ground.   We will all have to look out for Shambley this week; he's a talented passer who's putting together a really impressive start to his junior season. Check out some of his film from his last two games and you'll see what I mean:      [player_tooltip player_id='1035273' first='Jacobi' last='Harris'] is an electric RB who's made a huge impact on the ground for Hillcrest the last two weeks.   “Harris is electric with the ball in his hands- he plays with a ton of speed, twitch, and quickness he uses to come up with some seriously impressive plays on the ground, consistently outrunning entire defenses. Harris has a quick burst out of the backfield, great vision, and does an excellent job following his blockers to maximize each carry. Harris is an explosive threat every carry, but especially on the outside.   Once he turns the corner, good luck stopping him- he has terrific speed in the open field, can make defenders miss, and plays through contact to come up with some massive gains on the outside. Harris is also productive in the passing game-using his hands to create tons of plays out of the backfield off of screens and other shorter routes.“   Harris, a sophomore, has shown a ton of great things both last season and in the last two weeks. He's a talented ball carrier who can go from 0-100 in a moment's notice, Hoover will have to try and find a way to contain him early on this week.   Check out some of Harris' tape from last week, he's been balling out so far this year:     <h1 class="wp-block-heading">DEFENSE</h1>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">HOOVER</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='566977' first='Tyson' last='Bacon'] is one of the most dominant DL prospects in the state and will present some issues for Hillcrest's offensive line.   “Bacon is explosive off the line of scrimmage, plays with a ton of speed, power, and quickness, and is an aggressive pursuer of the ball who doesn't allow for any big plays on his side of the line of scrimmage.   Bacon causes a ton of chaos in the trenches- he can completely overpower offensive linemen with his size and strength, and constantly applies pressure/ places hits on opposing QBs. I love how well-rounded he is; he's a dominant playmaker you have to circle every snap as an offense.“   Bacon has been unstoppable against nearly every team he's faced. He's that dominant of a defender. Everyone should have eyes on him this week. I won't be surprised if he commands a lot of attention from Hillcrest's OL.   Check out how Bacon performed against Spain Park, you'll be impressed:      [player_tooltip player_id='1631233' first='DJ' last='Waluyn'] is a lockdown DB in Hoover's secondary who has provided some great production at safety.   "Waluyn is a talented safety that offenses have to look out for every down. Waluyn is quick, plays with a ton of speed and instincts, and can make huge plays on the ball in coverage. He's terrific at tracking and getting his hands on passes, frequently causing pass breakups and hauling in interceptions.   Against the run, Waluyn is quick to get downhill, is excellent in pursuit, and frequently hunts down the ball carrier to create stops by the line of scrimmage and in the open field."   Waluyn is a heat-seeking missile that Hillcrest will have to watch out for this week. He can play the run and defend the pass almost anywhere on the field. I'm excited to see how he'll perform against Hillcrest's talented passing attack.   Check out some of his early-season clips below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">HILLCREST</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1128392' first='Zay' last='Hall'], an Alabama commit, is one of the centerpieces of Hillcrest's defense.   “Hall is an athletic defender who can seriously hurt offenses in a variety of ways. Hall is dominant against the run- he flies downhill, fills in lanes, and racks up tackles at and behind the line of scrimmage. It's rare to see opposing RBs get into the open field against him. Hall consistently creates huge problems for offenses up front.   Hall is just as effective against the pass; he's a talented blitzer who can provide great coverage all over the field and make plays every down. It's impressive seeing how well-rounded of a defender Hall is; his future at the high school and collegiate level is really bright.”   Hall is an every-down threat against the run and pass that Hoover won't be able to ignore. I've been seriously impressed with Hall's versatility/playmaking ability. We'll have to look out for him this week.   Check out some of his clips from this past week:      [player_tooltip player_id='1653251' first='Dashaun' last='Pope'] is a dominant piece of Hillcrest's defensive front that we'll need to keep an eye on this week.   “Pope is explosive off the snap and has violent hands he uses to get past offensive linemen and into the backfield to come up with big stops. Pope is an effective pass rusher who generates tons of pressure and brings down the quarterback, but is even more unstoppable against the run.   Pope is a dominant run defender- he completely blows up the line of scrimmage, fights off blockers, and brings down the ball carrier on almost every rushing play. It's seriously impressive watching the power and leverage Pope plays with- he bullies offensive linemen and puts them on their heels to come up with huge stops in the trenches on a routine basis.“   I'm impressed with the impact Pope has made these last two weeks. He's a productive pass rusher who can defend against the run at a high level. Hoover will have to find a way to slow him down up front.   Pope has made some impressive plays to open up the season.
