The wide receiver/defensive back session was arguably the most impressive of the day. There was healthy competition across the board, with the top DBs always squaring up with the well known receivers. However, out of the two position groups, the receivers really shined. Play after play they performed at their highest, setting up the All-Star team to have phenomenal pass catchers on their roster. While a few receivers also got reps in with the RB/LBs and have been covered already, here are my top 4 pure wide receivers from Saturday's tryouts.

Miles turned heads early, clocking an impressive ~4.6 second 40-yard dash to kick off the day. Coming off a strong season with the Jersey Shore AYF 12u team last year, he proved he could thrive on both sides of the ball as a dynamic receiver and a lockdown defensive back once again.

On offense, Miles showcased his ability to adjust midair, working around defenders to secure tough grabs and showing confidence making contested catches. On defense, he stayed glued to his matchup at cornerback, highlighted by an interception where he jumped a route with great timing. With his speed, playmaking ability, and versatility, Miles wasn't just one of the most impressive receivers at the tryout, but stood out as arguably the top overall talent as well.

It's hard to miss Brayden when he steps onto the field, as he one was the receiver at the tryouts Saturday afternoon. Another member of last year's 12u team, Brayden proved to be right at home showcasing exceptional ball skills throughout the day.

What makes him dangerous isn't just his size, but the way he uses it. Brayden can outjump defenders and play aggressively to attack the ball. He also impressed with his downfield speed, showing he can run underneath deep passes and stretch the defense. With his combination of size, athleticism, and proven ability, Brayden has a strong chance of earning another spot on the 14u All Star team.

Christian gave Miles a run for his money as the top prospect at the All Star tryouts, building on his experience from last year's 12u team. He stood out as one of the most agile athletes of the day, with natural change of direction ability and quick feet that allowed him to separate from defenders on his breaks. He showed off his downfield speed by running underneath a fade to the end zone when squaring off with one of the talented DBs.

Even more impressive was Christian's body control when adjusting to a pass thrown behind him. He was able to slow down, flip his hips, and secure the catch without giving the defender a chance to contest. On defense, Christian proved just as valuable, sticking tightly to receivers during the 1 on 1 drills and showing he can make an impact on both sides of the ball.

Kingston quickly made a name for himself at the tryouts, as I had to write the word “athlete” multiple times in my notes. He signed up the day of, and because of the that I did not have his name on the roster. However, his talent on the field was so evident that it was necessary for me to get his name to be sure the right player was being scouted.

As one of the most versatile players on the field, Kingston showed he could line up anywhere and find success. In the slot, he displayed his shiftiness by getting a defensive back's hips turned before blowing past him. His quick feet off the line made him tough to cover as well as he could create instant separation. Not just a specialist, Kingston projects as a true two way player with the ability to contribute on both sides of the ball.
