Christian, in my opinion, was one of the top five players at the Jersey Shore All-Star tryouts a few weekends ago. A lightning quick receiver most comfortable in the slot, he consistently finds ways to get wide open and make plays. Christian’s hand-eye coordination stands out the most in his tape, allowing him to haul in tough catches with precision. Don’t let his size fool you either, he competes for the ball with strong hands, aggression, and the body control to adjust midair. Christian gave Miles a run for his money as the top prospect at the All Star tryouts, building on his experience from last year’s 12u team. He stood out as one of the most agile athletes of the day, with natural change of direction ability and quick feet that allowed him to separate from defenders on his breaks. He showed off his downfield speed by running underneath a fade to the end zone when squaring off with one of the talented DBs.

Even more impressive was Christian’s body control when adjusting to a pass thrown behind him. He was able to slow down, flip his hips, and secure the catch without giving the defender a chance to contest. On defense, Christian proved just as valuable, sticking tightly to receivers during the 1 on 1 drills and showing he can make an impact on both sides of the ball.

If this Jersey Shore 12U AYF All-Star team is going to go back-to-back, they’re going to need to show up and work on every play–something that Schicchi did on Saturday. Not the biggest, not the fastest and not the most technically sound, but he kept making plays that made me jot down notes. He was there for both the RB/LB and WR/DB/QB portions of the tryouts and after a while he just couldn’t be ignored. He showed off good hands and flashed notable ball instincts. His versatility could be huge down the line, as I can see him playing WR/SS/OLB or some Nickel.
