Each week of the 2025 season, PRZ WV will be recognizing five standout offensive linemen around the state, signifying the Great Wall of West Virginia. These five athletes demonstrated the ability to protect their quarterback and open holes for their team's running game. We'll spotlight at least one lineman from each classification with game film to spread the love for all levels of football in West Virginia at an often-forgotten but crucial position.

Morgantown had a statement win in week one versus Parkersburg and had a balanced offensive attack as the Mohigans' offensive line paved the way. The unit as a whole played very well and was cohesive as one of the top groups in the state this season, but this week's AAAA member of the Great Wall of WV is 2026 OL [player_tooltip player_id='1238323' first='Blake' last='Buffington']. He was a big stock riser in the rankings and as a prospect this summer, and it's translated to early success this season. Buffington showcased good footwork in both pass protection and in the running game with the high-level athleticism that he possesses. He also flashed physicality in finishing blocks and easily blocked down to the second level when assigned.

An under-the-radar game in Class AAA in week one was Robert C. Byrd's win over Lewis County. 2026 OL [player_tooltip player_id='1138210' first='Braydon' last='Hendricks'] is new to the Eagles' program after school consolidation, and quickly proved his worth along their offensive line during the first game. He solidified their left tackle position and consistently blew defenders off the ball all game long for a rushing attack that produced 333 yards and 6 touchdowns. Hendricks set the tone up front with nasty, physical play and opened some big holes for the Eagles' running game.

We expected 2028 Shady Spring OL [player_tooltip player_id='1538716' first='Peyton' last='Wade'] to take a big step forward as a sophomore and earn a starting position this season for the Tigers after seeing him progress this offseason. Wade proved that prediction in week one against St. Albans as he and Shady Spring's offensive and defensive lines controlled the line of scrimmage. He totaled 9 pancake blocks during the 40-0 shutout and did a great job as a pulling guard, showing quality short-area quickness and power at the point of attack. If Wade continues this level of play the entire season, he'll make the rankings stock riser prediction come to fruition.

Roane County steamrolled Greenbrier West in week one to the tune of 67-16 in large part due to their physicality and dominance up front. 2026 OL [player_tooltip player_id='894970' first='Hogan' last='Greathouse'] is one of the Raiders' leaders along the line of scrimmage and was a big key to their rushing success, which saw them total nearly 500 yards and 8 touchdowns. He and his teammates opened some large holes to make it easy for their running backs to run through and dominated the LOS. Greathouse is an underrated offensive lineman in the 2026 class who D2 and D3 colleges should be following closely this season.

Wahama's rushing attack made a statement in week one against East Hardy, as the White Falcons rushed for 608 yards and 10 touchdowns. Their biggest athlete on the line is 2026 OL [player_tooltip player_id='894991' first='Teagan' last='Scott'], who is one of the more underrated offensive linemen in the state. He played both left and right tackle during the game as his running backs often found success running behind the opening that he paved. Scott is a big, strong athlete who will prove to be a difficult matchup for Class A defensive linemen all season long.
