ROEBUCK | [player_tooltip player_id='1639712' first='Triston' last='Lewis'] was brilliant early against Dorman on Friday.

But the Greenwood QB saved his best for last.

Lewis threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to [player_tooltip player_id='1822754' first='Desiray' last='Christian'] (pictured) with less than five seconds to play in regulation, dove in for a crucial 2-point conversion, then rushed for a touchdown in overtime to stake the Eagles to a 42-35 lead that they turned into a 42-41 victory on Friday. Lewis accounted for all six of Greenwood's touchdowns in the win, throwing for five and rushing for the game winner.

"Ever since we lost to Northwestern last year, we've been working on our communication and bonding as a team," Lewis said after the game. "All through seven on seven, I've been bonding with all our receivers. Dorman's a great team, and we made a few mistakes, but we came back and came out with a win,"

The Eagles were particularly good through the air in the first half. The first play from scrimmage was a 58-yard completion to Christian. Lewis and Jay Duncan were locked in and proved to be tough for Dorman to handle in the early going as well. Duncan had eight catches for 96 yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone, scoring on plays of 10, 3, and 13 yards. Christian added a 34-yard TD catch to go with the early big gain, and the Eagles kept piling on chunk plays. [player_tooltip player_id='1822746' first='Khire' last='Richard'] hauled in a 42-yard completion. [player_tooltip player_id='1743679' first='Trey' last='Crawford'] broke off a 51-yard run. The Eagles averaged more than 13 yards per play in the second quarter alone on their way to a 27-14 halftime advantage.

Dorman was able to keep pace thanks to some big plays of their own. [player_tooltip player_id='1664350' first='Nick' last='Means'] rushed for 41 yards and a score in the first half, while backfield mate [player_tooltip player_id='1816266' first='Isaac' last='Tate'] was electric, rushing for 69 yards with a 47-yard touchdown in the first half.

Both defenses turned in some crucial plays of their own early. Greenwood's [player_tooltip player_id='1639742' first='Ahmad' last='Scott'] was a terror, with two sacks and two tackles for loss. [player_tooltip player_id='828831' first='Damarion' last='Roman'] notched two tackles for loss for the Eagles, while Coby Parks forced a fumble. For Dorman, [player_tooltip player_id='402497' first='Kentavion' last='Anderson'] had a big tackle to force a turnover on downs in Dorman territory, while [player_tooltip player_id='1706651' first='Corey' last='Cole'] came up with a sack and a tackle for loss.

Two things happened after halftime. Dorman's secondary played much better, and the offense started clicking.

Tate cut Greenwood's lead to 27-21 on the Cavaliers' first drive of the second half, spinning out of a tackle and racing 41 yards for a score. The Eagles drove deep into Dorman territory, but an interception by [player_tooltip player_id='1822664' first='Micah' last='Savage'] ended the threat. [player_tooltip player_id='340230' first='Meek' last='Slydell'] threw three straight completions to Tre'Gan Mickler, [player_tooltip player_id='1706651' first='Corey' last='Cole'], and Means, and one play later Means scored on a six-yard run and Dorman was all the way back, leading 28-27.

Means padded Dorman's lead early in the fourth quarter with a 25-yard TD run, and then it was Dorman's defense's time to shine. After a long Greenwood drive, [player_tooltip player_id='1639739' first='Christian' last='Waring'] stopped Lewis cold on a designed run, and [player_tooltip player_id='1708614' first='Jabez' last='Thomas'] picked off a pass in the end zone on the next play, stopping another scoring threat. Thomas made another huge play later in the fourth, breaking up a fourth down pass that would've gone for a long gain.

But the Cavaliers couldn't run out the clock, and Lewis took over. A couple of quick completions moved it past midfield, and he found just enough time to hit Christian in the back corner of the end zone to pull within two.

"He's a great player, and I trust him," Lewis said. "I just tried to get it to him."

Christian said the trust is mutual.

"We work on it every day at practice," he said. "It's nothing new to me. We do it so much, it's muscle memory. Our relationship is very strong, and we've got so much trust, we don't even have to talk. He sees where the DB is, and he knows what to do."
