Who Dominated In Saraland's (1-0) 17-6 W over Jackson (0-1)?

WHAT A GAME LAST NIGHT!   Saraland's defense pitched a near shutout against one of the top offensive units in the state, forcing four turnovers and holding Jackson to only 23 yards rushing.   Earlier this week, we highlighted some prospects we thought people should look out for. Now, we're checking in to see how they all performed!   <h1 class="wp-block-heading">STANDOUT PERFORMERS</h1>    [player_tooltip player_id='472861' first='Jamison' last='Roberts'] dominated in Saraland's season opener, delivering beautiful throws all over the field and consistently helping his offense move the ball upfield.   “Roberts has some serious arm talent and throws the ball really well- he has a quick release, plenty of arm strength, and the accuracy to hit his WRs anywhere on the field. Roberts can complete some seriously impressive throws- consistently fitting the ball into tight windows, making tough throws on the run, and taking the tops off of defenses with his ability to push the ball downfield.   Roberts is also really athletic and can make a lot happen with his legs. He's fantastic at avoiding pressure when the pocket collapses and uses his speed and mobility to outrun pass rushers, never putting drives in jeopardy.“   Last night, Roberts completed 17 of 28 passes for 204 yards and two TDs. One of the most impressive plays of the night came when Roberts converted a huge TD pass to AJ Martin on 4th and 20. (Check that clip out below)   I can't wait to see how Roberts continues to perform this season. He did a terrific job opening up the year against one of the top teams in the state- we're all going to have to look out.   (credit to @ScoutFball)   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/ScoutFball/status/1959059036537856431 </div></figure>     [player_tooltip player_id='1660603' first='Jakari' last='Harris'] had a HUGE night against Jackson, making his impact felt on both sides of the ball in several different ways.   “You can tell right off the bat that Harris is a highly intelligent and instinctual defender on this Saraland defense. He reads and reacts to opposing offenses within milliseconds of the ball snapping, consistently flying to where the play is headed to disrupt and come up with stops.   Harris is a heat-seeking missile. He's highly athletic, can make sideline-to-sideline plays, and has the tackling skills to ensure the ball carrier won't gain any extra yards after he makes contact. Harris also has some impressive skills out in coverage and as a blitzer, making him an every-down threat to opposing offenses.“   Harris ended his night with 5 total tackles (2 for loss), 1 forced fumble, 1 PBU, and several big-time runs on offense.   I'm most impressed with how Harris played the run. He did a fantastic job spying and containing [player_tooltip player_id='350449' first='Landon' last='Duckworth'] on the ground, and was a huge reason why Jackson wasn't able to get the ground attack rolling.   Everyone in the 6A needs to watch for Harris moving forward. He was unstoppable last night and is going to be a two-way weapon for Saraland this year.     [player_tooltip player_id='1637098' first='Lawardrick' last='Jones'] was all over the field last night, locking up Jackson's passing attack   “Jones is a versatile DB who can line up and produce all over the field. He thrives off his physicality, is great at defending the run, and provides lockdown coverage outside on some talented WRs. Jones is great in press man- he wears down WRs at the line of scrimmage, isn't easily beat downfield, and has the ball skills to come away with some impressive picks/PBUs.   Jones is terrific at coming down from the secondary and making plays against the run- he's great in pursuit, easily fights off blocks, and is a reliable tackler who doesn't allow for any additional yardage after making initial contact. Jones brings the same impact to special teams, consistently flying downfield to tackle returners on kickoffs.“   Last night, Jones had 3 tackles, 7 PBUs (2 dropped INTs), a blocked FG, and a huge stop down by the one-yard line.   I think a LOT of collegiate attention will be heading Jones' way soon. You don't make those kinds of plays against one of the top QB recruits in the nation and not have offers sent your way. I   It was seriously impressive seeing how well Jones performed last night- teams in the 6A will HAVE to start game-planning around him moving forward.     [player_tooltip player_id='1314932' first='DeShawn' last='Spencer'] was a key piece of Saraland's offense last night, finding ways to get open and make plays against a talented Jackson secondary.   “Spencer has some fantastic speed and acceleration; he can easily outrun entire defenses and makes it look effortless. Paired with his speed, Spencer is extremely elusive- he frequently makes defenders miss in the open field and has a ton of different moves that allow him to break away for huge runs.   Spencer also plays with a lot of physicality- he doesn't shy away from contact, can withstand some big hits, and is a physical runner between the tackles.“   Last night, Spencer was the go-to target for [player_tooltip player_id='472861' first='Jamison' last='Roberts'], and WENT OFF. He ended the night with 9 catches for 115 yards and one TD.   Check out this TD play from Spencer yesterday. Namely, Turner had the dagger of the game. Up 17-6 with 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Turner came from across the field to pick off [player_tooltip player_id='350449' first='Landon' last='Duckworth'] and call game.   We haven't actually watched Turner here on the site yet, but expect to change soon. I'm really impressed with how he performed yesterday and am excited to see how he does going forward.
