Week 1 Film Room: X Submissions, Part II

Here are more X film submissions from week 1.    Page is a two-way playmaker for West Forsyth who broke out in a big way to start the year. He went 4-112-2 as a receiver and tallied several tackles on defense. I thought he impressed me most at receiver. He has the size and drive off the line to play at the X spot, and he made plays at each level of the field. The most impressive part of his game was when he climbed the ladder in the endzone to make a highlight reel grab for a score. He is already tall, but he got up there and increased his catch radius even more. I would be intrigued as an in-state small school.     AJ Forde is a stout, strong IOL projection equipped with a lot of mass and power. He projects more as a power-scheme blocker, where he can create push and act as an immovable object. In week 1, it was his violence that stood out to me. His motor as a blocker ran hot, finishing blocks through the dirt and the whistle.     McDonald is a tall, lean EDGE prospect who is now listed up to 207 pounds. The play strength is still coming around for McDonald, but he is finding the field regardless. Whether on or off the ball, he plays as a true run-and-chase defender and helps squeeze the offense horizontally. His length helps him cast a wide net as a tackler. Now, he just needs to continue to bulk up to be better equipped to battle with blockers and get ball carriers down.     It was a busy night for Chris Bennett against Fayette County, totaling 13 tackles on the night. Bennett is a strong, powerful, well-developed 6'1 210. I would consider him more of a C-gap to C-gap player, although he does have a hot motor as a pursuer. He greets blocks and ball carriers with good pad-level and enough pop to knock them off their feet. This is the first time I am seeing Bennett, but I am intrigued and wouldn't be shocked to see D1 attention come his way down the line.     There are just a few reps to go off of from last week, but I am intrigued with the athlete here. He is listed at 6'1 175 and plays both ways. I project him long-term as a corner. In the lone rep at that spot, he did a good job of getting his hands on the receiver at the line, turning to run, and locating the ball. As a receiver, he flashed his ball skills and body control with a catch over the top in the endzone. Again, he tracked the ball well. What intrigues me most is the combo of size and speed. He is tall, lean, and clocked 11.47 in the 100M this past track season. I will be keeping an eye on him this fall to see how he continues to develop.     Freeman's name first came across my desk this week, so naturally, I was excited to watch him this fall. In week 1, I was definitely impressed. He rallied downhill hard and he played with a lot of eagerness to get involved as a tackler. He checks the size boxes at 6'2 165 and has a lot of room to fill out. There is some developmental upside here and the fact that he embraces energy is a good launching point for his development.
