Week 0 Report: Scrimmage and Game Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It was Week 0 for the MD HS Football season and I was out at multiple scrimmages and games this past weekend. He was responsible for 2 of the teams 3 total TDs. His first came on defense - he baited the QB, jumped the route and got a key pick six right before the half to flip momentum and give Gilman the lead. In the 3rd quarter Marcus made a nice athletic catch on offense after beating the defender deep and rising up to get the ball. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An high level dynamic playmaker, Marcus possesses loose hips, nice burst &amp; acceleration and is an excellent leaper. He holds 2 offers currently from JMU and Towson. Was a defensive game and Spano was a big reason why the Bullis offense was kept in check. He lined up at multiple spots for MSJ during the game. From having his hand in the dirt at DE, to a stand&nbsp;up edge and even as an off ball LB. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Jakhai was a force all game long playing fast and physical.&nbsp; He made a nice tackle in space on a QB scramble, showing the ability&nbsp;to open up / break down and close on the ball. Had nice bend and burst off the snap from DE spot. Showed the ability to take on blockers, shed them off and find the ball quickly. Was impressed from what I saw in Jakhai in game one of the year and can't wait to see more of him this season. I do think in time he will grow into being a DE full time. Wise had multi team scrimmage this past weekend and Zorian put on a show during said scrimmage. He had 2 TDs on the day. One where he just beat the DB over the top for a big score and the second was winning on a jump ball in the end zone. Those are the two thing Zorian does best with his 6'6" size, impressive length and long stride. He's improved his route running, showed nice snap and burst out of his breaks. Also shows strong hands being able to go up and snatch the ball. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>He holds one offer from Penn State after having a strong camp there. He also had multiple eye catching performances at college camps during the summer from what I'm told. Chris is in great shape entering his senior campaign. He was at the National Preps Spring Showcase back in May, where he weighed 320lbs. He has no lost 30lbs! Slimed down to around 290 and it shows, looks and is moving great. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Chris is dominant in both pass pro and run blocking. Showed nice foot work, balance and power. Can sink his hips and moves well laterally with a strong punch. In the run game he comes off the ball well. Strikes and is physical. Can drives defenders out the play and get up to the second level. Currently he holds two offers from Maine and Morgan State. He made impact plays on both sides of the ball, and helped their offense switch into a next gear during the second half. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">At RB Aiden was effective getting to the outside as RB picking up big chunk yard plays and even took one in for a score.. Showed some nice twitch, wiggle, make you miss ability and short area burst He runs hard for his size. Fights through arm tackles and makes it hard to get a clean look at him when he has the ball in his hands. On the defensive side, Aiden mainly played at safety. He showed nice reaction times and play identification. Is quick to close on the ball and will come down hill to make the tackle. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Aiden already hold 2 offers from Morgan State and Rhode Island. Arriving at Mervo after playing his freshman year at Parkville HS. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A player who looks the part for his position. Brandon has great size, arms to his knees, and a good frame to fill out. He had multiple big TD grabs during the scrimmage and was winning on balls all day long. With a smooth stride, and good twitch in his hips he is able to separate and get open with ease. Brandon is an impressive leaper as well. Able to time his jumps well with good body control and ball skills. He has strong hands and goes up it snatches it out of the air. Brandon currently holds two Power 4 Offers from Syracuse and Vtech.
