The second half of the most productive passing and receiving duo in 4A, [player_tooltip player_id='1241527' first='Drew' last='Hobart'] is back to lead the receiving corps in Mason City and catch passes from the top returning passer, [player_tooltip player_id='1827720' first='Jameer' last='Falls'].

Last fall, Hobart caught 50 passes for 787 yards and six touchdowns. Hobart is a smooth route-runner with top end speed that personifies "runs like a deer." He may not be the quickest laterally, but his ability to run away from the defense makes him stand out.

The 5'10", 155-pound receiver is a lot more than just wideout, too. The district utility player of the year, Hobart also registered 41.5 tackles and returned 16 kickoffs for 646 yards (40.3 yards per return) and three scores.

[player_tooltip player_id='1619939' first='Leo' last='Tatum'] is back for powerhouse Lewis Central after grabbing 27 catches for 741 yards and 11 scores last season. The leader in the state in yards per catch by a mile (27.4), Tatum is a big play waiting to happen as part of the Titans offense. In fact, he's the only receiver in the top 24 pass-catchers from last season with fewer than 30 catches.

With a mixture of speed to blow past his defender deep, stop and go in the open field and break tackles, Tatum can beat opposing defenses in a variety of ways. With his versatility in playmaking, the 5'11", 150-pound wideout's yards per catch numbers make a ton of sense.

A playmaker on both sides of the ball, Tatum also registered 34 tackles, four interceptions and two fumble recoveries for the Titan defense.

In just five games last fall, [player_tooltip player_id='1197479' first='David' last='William'] finished with 43 catches for 679 yards and five scores. A dominant receiver in northwest Iowa, William could have benefitted big time by staying healthy for more of last year. In seeing the young pass-catcher at Iowa State's prospect camp prior to last season, he immediately stood out. Tall and lanky with ball skills and long strides, William is a Division I wide out.

Looking like a true X-receiver, William can either go up and get it or beat opposing defenses deep with separation-creating speed. If given any space, he's going to make defenses pay, and again, if he can stay on the field for a good chunk of this coming year, he may rise to the top receiver in the state and start picking up scholarship offers.

Though LC loses two-year starter, Brady Hetzel, head coach Justin Kammrad can sleep well at night knowing he's got two of the top receivers in the state returning next season in Tatum and [player_tooltip player_id='1619876' first='Peyton' last='Phippen']. Tatum put up some wild numbers in 2024, but Phippen wasn't far behind after grabbing 47 catches for 673 yards and five scores.

While Tatum is more of a big play threat, Phippen provides a utility in the short passing game and as a jet-sweep weapon for the Titans offense. He's also a good blocker, showing he knows the importance of doing the little things right as a receiver.

Presumed starter for Lewis Central, [player_tooltip player_id='1248126' first='Brody' last='Chubb'] will be afforded plenty of options to attack opposing defenses this fall, and Phippen will certainly be part of his array of weapons.

Yet another Newton Cardinal to discuss after listing [player_tooltip player_id='1619687' first='Caden' last='Klein'] amongst the top returning passers and rushers coming back in 2025, [player_tooltip player_id='1619913' first='Finn' last='Martin'] will be one of his top options this fall after posting 35 catches for 637 yards and four touchdowns last year. Those four scores were exactly half of the passing touchdowns Klein completed last fall.

When Klein isn't carrying the rock, he'll be looking to beat opposing defenses over the top, with Martin being a huge part of their offensive attack. A pass-catching, wide receiver/tight end hybrid, Martin can leak through defenses, appearing as if he's a blocker, and slip up the seem for big gains.

With Newton's ability to run the ball, Martin should be one of the biggest benefactors this fall, catching passes in the play-action game and finding the holes in zone coverage.
