Recruiting Report (8/27): Recent Updates Around the State

We're back with a new Recruiting Report!   Today, we're diving into some of the recent recruiting news across the state. These prospects have been on fire this week, so we're diving into the latest surrounding their recruitment.   As always, make sure you watch their film below! You won't want to miss out on this kind of talent.    [player_tooltip player_id='1679668' first='Deitric' last='Young'] is a talented DB out of Woodlawn we watched earlier this year, and this week, he made a big decision with his recruitment.   "If there's one guy you do not want to meet head-on, it's Dietric Young. He's a physical, aggressive DB who can dish out massive hits to the ballcarrier, put pressure on the QB, and defend the run at a really high level.   Young is really athletic. He has great speed, instincts, and skills in pursuit he uses to fly around the field and create stops. I'm especially impressed with what he can do down by/behind the line of scrimmage. He easily slips by blockers to meet and wrap up the ball carrier for little to no gain almost every down. I loved what I saw in Young's tape; he's an enforcer type who demands attention from offenses all game long."   A few days back, Young announced he had committed to Alabama A&M!   Although Woodlawn wasn't able to secure a win this past week, Young put together some impressive tape from Week 0. We're all gonna have to look out for him the rest of this year. Check out some of his film below:      [player_tooltip player_id='1621009' first='Nehemiah' last='McCary'] is the top RB in our 2028 Rankings for a good reason; he's been unstoppable at Maplesville since he stepped foot on campus.   “At 6'3 200, McCary has great size, contact balance, and breakaway speed in the open field that helps him consistently create explosive plays on the ground. With his size, McCary is a hard guy to tackle. He's great at lowering his shoulder and trucking through defenders and has contact balance he uses to always stay on his feet.   One of the things that makes McCary especially dangerous on the ground is his elusiveness- he can straight up run through your face, but can also make you miss with how quick he is on his feet. McCary has even made plays on defense; he's an athletic player with tons of potential wherever he lines up.“   Unsurprisingly, McCary has become very popular in the recruiting world. In the past week, he's picked up offers from Miami, Nebraska, and Mississippi State.   You can watch some of McCary's film from last Friday below. We'll all have to keep track of him moving forward. He's a special talent in our 2028 class and has a bright future ahead.      Eli Lanier is a lockdown DB from Anniston who has been on our radar for a little while now, and yesterday, he picked up another offer to add to his list.   “Lanier is a physical CB who thrives off his size, speed, and ball skills out in coverage. Lanier can press WRs at the LOS and has the instincts and timing to break on passes and force PBUs/INTs.   I love how Lanier gets involved against the run- he's great in pursuit and consistently flies down to the line of scrimmage to rack up TFLs. Lanier is a well-rounded defender who can make impact plays against the run and pass- it'll be exciting to watch him moving forward.“   Yesterday, Lanier received another offer from Liberty!   Make sure you watch some of Lanier's sophomore tape below; he's a talented DB with a big junior season ahead of him.      [player_tooltip player_id='1531280' first='Rance' last='Brown'] is a dominant OT from Southside who really impressed us earlier this offseason.   “At 6'6 280, Brown is a chore for defensive linemen to beat. Although huge, Brown is highly athletic and is a terrific blocker in the run game and pass protection, consistently providing his teammates with wide-open rushing lanes and a clean pocket no matter who he's lined up across from.   It's especially impressive watching Brown go to work in the run game; he does a great job opening things up at the line of scrimmage and can work his way upfield to make key blocks for the ball carrier to capitalize on. Brown has played really well all season long and is going to be a prospect everyone should have their eyes on.“   Yesterday, Brown picked up another offer from Florida Atlantic!   Make sure you watch some of Brown's tape from last Friday; he's a talented junior with a big year ahead.      [player_tooltip player_id='401102' first='Hezekiah' last='Harris'], one of our top talents in our 2026 class, announced his top 3 yesterday afternoon.   “Harris possesses a rare combination of size, athleticism, and pass-rushing skills that have made him an outstanding player on Mae Jemison's defensive front over the last few years. He's a serious force in the trenches who can make impact plays every single snap.   Harris is a dominant pass rusher who can consistently beat OL to generate pressure and take down the quarterback. Harris is just as good against the run- he uses his size to eat up space, can easily shed blocks, and frequently takes down the ball carrier at or behind the line of scrimmage.“   Harris announced yesterday that he'd cut his recruitment down to three schools- Tennessee, Auburn, and Florida! I'm excited to see where he commits on September 1st. He's a talented player who will be a huge addition wherever he ends up.
