PSR Big Camp Series, New Jersey: Linebackers, Volume IV

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Saturday, May 10th, 2025 I was welcomed back for the third year in a row to cover&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/ScoutNickP">Coach Nick Pennisi</a>‘s&nbsp;<em>PSR Big Camp Series</em>&nbsp;hosted at Monroe High School in Monroe, New Jersey. As I have come to expect, this event was packed with participation, loaded with talent, and ran extremely well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Different than other events, Pennisi opted to have three different check-in times, based on position groupings. This afforded me the opportunity to get a closer look at many of the prospects in attendance. Below are just some of my notes on the position group mentioned in this article's title.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Be sure to follow me on&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/BrendanScoutsNJ"><strong>Twitter</strong></a>&nbsp;for the latest updates in New Jersey high school football.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:separator --> <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" /> <!-- /wp:separator --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Today we start off with one of the eldest prospects to attend, post-grad prospect Sean Neal from East Coast Prep. A bocky 6'1" 220lbs, Neal is living proof that you can be both big <em>and </em>athletic. Neal showcased very solid hips and moved effectively, as there was little wasted movement and a certain degree of power as he went through his reads, drops, and pursuit.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I follow up a post-grad prospect with two Pennsylvania products. Carson Schneider out of Neshaminy profiles as a solid B-gap-to-B-gap, run stuffing defender. At 5'10" 195lbs, he brings a solid frame. I hope to see him play a bit less flat-footed this coming season, which will be his last dance... In terms of pursuing the ball carrier and keeping your leverage, Alex Kriebel was one of the better prospects. Hailing from Plymouth Whitemarsh, Kriebel not only kept his near-side hip tackling leverage, but also squeezed and pressed do it well, too.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the biggest linebacking bodies to attend was that of [player_tooltip player_id='1043512' first='Danny' last='Greene']. The Northern Burlington prospect was listed at 6'3" 225lbs and is <em>still </em>only a rising junior. Greene appeared to understand how to use his body to wall off receivers, protecting whichever leverage he needed to. However, I thought that there is opportunity for Greene to improve his ability to move laterally. This said, I feel Greene might end up playing defensive line at the next level... It might seem like a case of "keeping up with the Jones'," as [player_tooltip player_id='1467565' first='Julien' last='Jones'] reps his family name and keeps the proud legacy going in Colonia, as older brother Jaeden Jones is now doing the same at Monmouth. Perhaps the only thing the younger Jones did better than move was break and change directions. I appreciated the discipline and accountability he has developed. During indy Jones dropped an interception. Like clockwork, I noticed him hustle to the back of the line and bang out his 10 push ups. In run simulation Jones excelled at squaring up opponents and closing space; moreover, he was outstanding in coverage - never being faked despite a receiver's best efforts - and aggressively played the rep through the ground... With Jackson Liberty and Jackson Memorial set to merge, [player_tooltip player_id='1697642' first='David' last='Howard'] accurately listed his high school as Jackson on the registration form. What the merged, unified programs are getting is a 6'1" 215lb prospect with two season yet to play.
