The Rockets opened their season 1-0 after a 43-36 win over Creek Wood with this sophomore ball carrier going off for his best performance to date. Forrest needed every single one of his rushing yards and touchdowns on the night in their close victory. Mitchell put his big play abilities and speed on full display during this game where he broke away from the Red Hawks defense on multiple occasions. His vision was on-point. Mitchell found a hole and bursted through without hesitation eventually ending in the end zone. The 389 rushing yards has to be a school record but it's also a performance that may put Mitchell on the map for Mr. Football.

Marable kicked his 2025 season off in a big way as a major offensive producer during the Wildcats opening win over Jackson Prep, Mississippi. This future Columbia Lion quarterback was stellar both through the air and on the ground where he produced six touchdowns on the night while nearly accumulating almost 400 yards of total offense by himself. Marable was efficient too, only throwing three incompletions on the night. This is a great start to his senior year and a statement game showing that Marable is poised to perform at a high level for his Wildcats team this year.

Knox definitely got himself on the map with a strong season debut that saw him fly around the ball all night in the Commanders 34-7 win over Trousdale County. This 6 '2 sophomore defensive lineman was nearly unblockable as Knox consistently placed himself in the middle of the action, making plays both against the run and versus the pass. His active motor and power proved to be a problem for the Yellow Jackets offensive line. The Commanders big man must now back his play up moving forward because I see college potential with Knox with continued development and growth.

O-line Unit of the Week

Stewarts Creek Red Hawks (Notable Players - [player_tooltip player_id='889088' first='Jordon' last='Shaw'], Evan Lischka, [player_tooltip player_id='1856897' first='Lucas' last='Bello'])

- The Red Hawks opened the season 1-0 but had to fight till the very end in their 39-36 win over Centennial. Their offensive line in particular had to hold up all night long and help push their team to victory and they did just that. The Stewarts Creek O-line helped paved the way for running back [player_tooltip player_id='1567089' first='Jamarcus' last='Brown'] to run for 258 yards and four touchdowns on the night, while carrying the ball 36 times, so the big men up front had to bring the physicality on a consistent basis. This may also show us what the Red Hawks plan to be this year and that's a run heavy offense that leans on their O-line.

Positional Players of the Week

QB: [player_tooltip player_id='1582354' first='Jaxon' last='Dabrowski'] - William Blount (Stats: 16-18 passing for 235 yds & 4 TD's/7 carr, 66 yds & 1 TD)

- Going into his senior year without much recruiting attention, Dabrowski definitely helped his cause with an outstanding “Week One” performance. The Govs signal caller was near flawless in his team's opening season victory where he threw only two incompletions while producing five offensive touchdowns. More performances like this may eventually put Dabrowski into Mr. Football consideration.

RB: [player_tooltip player_id='1088093' first='Mason' last='Taylor'] - West Carroll ‘28 (Stats: 13 carr. for 346 yds & 4 TD's)

- Only a sophomore, Taylor is a name to watch over the coming season and into the future. The War Eagles ball carrier made his presence known in game one by running for nearly 350 yards and doing so on only 13 carries. Taylor produced four touchdowns as well while displaying a nice combination of power and speed that can translate well to the college game.

- - -

WR: Sam Bowers - Pope Prep (Stats: 8 rec. for 108 yds & 3 TD's)

- Moving over to Pope Prep for his senior year, Bowers made a strong team debut in the Knights win over Lakeway Christian last week where he became the go-to target that produced three receiving touchdowns. The Knights senior wideout made several clutch catches to further drives while providing big play abilities that helped get his team on the scoreboard.

Ath: [player_tooltip player_id='1648058' first='Khadon' last='Piphus'] - Halls (Stats: 5 tcks, 2 PD & 1 Int (6 carr. for 118 yds & 3 TD's)

- All this guy does is produce big game after big game and that's exactly what Piphus did in last week's 54-12 win over Humboldt. The Tigers senior led the state in interceptions last year, so he is known for his defensive work but Piphus produced big on offense with 118 yards rushing and three scores. More productive work on both sides of the ball may put Piphus into Mr. Football consideration.

DL: [player_tooltip player_id='1571430' first='Jeremiah' last='Harris'] - Halls (Stats: 11 tcks, 3 TFL & 3 sacks)

- Harris is an under the radar senior prospect that made a strong statement in “Week One” with a stellar performance in his team's win over Humboldt. The Tigers senior was a force that consistently got into the Vikings backfield, making plays versus the run while harassing the quarterback as well. Harris looks faster and more explosive too, so a potential big year may be ahead from this West TN pass rusher..

LB: [player_tooltip player_id='1657198' first='Eric' last='Bowling'] - MTCS (Stats: 11 tcks, 1 FF, 1 PD & 2 Int's)

- Bowling performed at a high level during the Cougars season opening win over Ezell Harding where the senior linebacker not only made plays versus the run but provided some dagger interceptions against the pass. MTCS had to battle the Eagles for the victory. Bowling proved to be a game changer with his high octane game play and ability to play in coverage.

DB: [player_tooltip player_id='1635017' first='Ryan' last='Burney'] - Hixson (Stats: 10 tcks, 3 FF, 2 FR w/ 1 returned for a TD)

- The Wildcats weren't able to pull out the win but it didn't stop Burney from putting together a stellar season debut. This senior safety was a force on the defensive side of the ball, especially versus the run where he made several strong tackles at the line of scrimmage, including forcing three fumbles. His team hasn't won a ton in his career but Burney always plays hard and performs at a high level.
