Prep Redzone AL's 2025 Preseason All-State Team: QB Selections

We've made it to August! With the season fast approaching, it's time for us to give our preseason All-State selections!   Today, we're focusing on some of the most dominant passers in the state!   You won't want to miss out on this group of talent. Be sure to check out their film below. Now, here are our preseason selections:   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">7A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='216690' first='Trent' last='Seaborn'] has been unstoppable over at Thompson since his 8th-grade year; it's only right we have him as our selection in the 7A.   “Seaborn has a terrific understanding of his offense and what to do with the ball- he scans the entire field, makes great decisions, and quickly gets the ball out, never putting it in harm's way. On top of his mental attributes, Seaborn has a heck of an arm he uses to make difficult throws all over the field- he's a top-tier passer with tons of talent and potential.“   Seaborn was terrific last fall, completing 210/328 passing attempts for 2675 yards and 26 TDs: 7 INT and 44 carries for 256 yards and one TD on the ground.   With how dominant he's been over the last four years, Seaborn lists offers from Oregon, South Carolina, Auburn, and plenty more.   Seaborn has some great tape from Thompson's championship run last season- watch it below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">6A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1354216' first='Kingston' last='Preyear'] is a talented rising sophomore we think will dominate the 6A over at Benjamin Russell this year.   “Preyear has unreal arm talent and can place the ball anywhere on the field- he has a strong arm, can throw with a lot of touch and accuracy, and hits his targets perfectly in stride downfield. Preyear is also terrific at navigating the pocket- he's elusive and doesn't let pressure get to him, can extend plays and make throws on the run, and is great at avoiding sacks.   Another impressive part of Preyear's game is his mobility- he can create huge plays with his legs. On tape, he frequently carved up defenses for big gains off of zone reads and just by scrambling, he's a seriously dynamic QB who can truly beat you in every way.“   Preyear had a terrific first season at Montgomery Catholic, winning a state championship and recording 94/135 passing attempts for 1787 yards and 20 TDs and only 2 INTs.    With how well he's played, Preyear has already picked up offers from Troy, Ole Miss, Houston, and more.   Preyear is a really talented 2028 QB in the making. Check out some of his tape below and you'll see what I mean:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">5A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1610264' first='Landyn' last='Smith']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/landyn-smith-2/"></a> is a talented passer out of St Clair County who dominated the state in his sophomore season, and we think he's just getting started.   "Smith, a left-handed QB, can shred opposing secondaries with his arm talent. Smith has a live arm capable of making some big-time throws. He has excellent touch and accuracy and frequently completes difficult throws along the sideline, across the middle, and deep downfield to his WRs.   Smith does an excellent job of placing the ball only where his targets can make a play on it. You can see it when he's throwing goal-line fades or over the top of secondaries- he's constantly helping his WRs create huge game-changing plays. Smith can also produce under pressure; he's great at avoiding defenders in the pocket and can make some sweet throws on the run."   Last fall, Smith completed 159/269 attempts for 2683 yards, 39 TDs, and only two INTs, with another 12 carries for 65 yards and two TDs on the ground.   After what he did last season, we decided Smith should be our selection in the 5A. Everyone should have Smith and this St Clair County passing attack circled this fall- you'll see why below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">4A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='350449' first='Landon' last='Duckworth'] has been unbelievable for Jackson over the last few years and was the obvious choice for our 4A selection.   "Duckworth has terrific arm strength, delivers the ball with excellent touch, and can deliver accurate passes all across the field. In addition to his arm talent, Duckworth has an elite ability to read defenses and does a great job utilizing his mobility to his advantage.   Whenever Duckworth gets pressured or sees an open lane, he has the speed and elusiveness to extend and make the most out of broken plays."   Duckworth had another huge year this fall, throwing for 3439 yards, 39 TDs, and only 10 INTs, with another 648 yards and 12 TDs on the ground as well.   A few weeks back, Duckworth committed to South Carolina- giving the SEC another electric QB to watch over the next few years.   Duckworth and Jackson will be a must-watch team again this fall. Do yourself a favor and watch some of his film from last season below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">3A</h2>    Only heading into this sophomore season, [player_tooltip player_id='1536090' first='Reid' last='McBride'] has already made enough of an impression on us to land as our preseason selection in the 3A.   “McBride has some serious arm talent he put on full display last fall- he's highly accurate, has great ball placement, and has the arm strength to push the ball downfield for massive plays. I was really impressed watching McBride throw the deep ball- he places a lot of touch underneath his passes, can throw some impressive hole shots, and perfectly hits his WRs in stride wherever they're located on the field.   Another really impressive part of McBride's game is his mobility- he's quick on his feet and uses his legs to extend and make plays on the ground, consistently finding great yardage and the endzone once he leaves the pocket.“   McBride was unstoppable last season, completing 145/235 passing attempts for 2772 yards and 34 TDs to only 4 INTs, with another 56 carries for 373 yards and 6 TDs on the ground as well.   McBride is an exciting up-and-coming QB that everyone should watch out for over at Montgomery Academy this fall. Do yourself a favor and watch some of his film below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2A</h2>    Jermarkius Smith is a dominant QB out of Reeltown who helped lead his team to a 2A state title last fall.   "Smith is an extremely efficient passer who finds ways to move the chains every snap. Smith has some serious arm talent, is decisive, and dissects opposing secondaries extremely well- frequently coming away with massive gains downfield and never putting the ball in harm's way.   Smith is also pretty mobile and can extend plays/make plays with his feet when necessary, which is a huge advantage for him when facing pressure. It's really impressive watching Smith lead his offense- he sees the field well, takes what the defense gives him, and leads a ton of successful drives for Reeltown's offense."   Smith was one of the state's leading passers last season, completing 94/166 passing attempts for 2191 yards and 34 TDs to only 4 INTs, with 44 carries for 260 yards and 2 TDs on the ground.   After what he accomplished last fall, there was no doubt Smith would land as our preseason selection. Smith is a talented passer with a big season in store over at Reeltown- make sure you watch some of his film below:   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/RealJMark3/status/1855406748930117724 </div></figure>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">1A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1584638' first='Gage' last='Davis'] is a talented QB out of Florala who ended up as our 1A All-State QB last December.   "At 5'10 160, Davis is slightly undersized, but more than makes up for it with his dynamic talents as a passer. As a sophomore, Davis really impresses me- he plays with a ton of confidence, has great arm talent, and is willing to do whatever it takes to move the chains.   It's really impressive watching Davis perform under pressure; he can avoid defenders in the pocket, extend plays, and make some really impressive throws through contact."   Davis had a great sophomore season, completing 153 of 229 attempts for 2406 yards, 27 TDs, and 14 INTs.   Watch out for Davis this fall. He's a talented gunslinger with a big junior season ahead- do yourself a favor and watch some of his film below:
