Rodriguez really helped the offense to move the ball with his ability to shield his teammates from the blitz. I also liked how Rodriguez could use his arms to wrap up defenders.

Tape:

I was additionally impressed with [player_tooltip player_id='1029916' first='Micah' last='Nance'], a running back at Blackman High School. Dowell impressed me defensively for the Blaze, showing off his awareness and playmaking ability in the first half. Dowell recovered a blocked kick and returned it for the touchdown. What stood out about Dowell was his ability to pick up speed and break free from the defense on his way into the endzone.

Also worth mentioning is Max Wilcox, a tight end at Blackman High School. Wilcox made a huge difference for the Blaze on the offensive end, hauling in several crucial passes throughout the contest. I liked how Wilcox could elevate off the ground to catch the challenging pass as well as his ability to stay on his feet. Wilcox showed off his electric speed as well, quickly gaining on defenders on his way into enemy territory.

Game Recap

Blackman would punch into the endzone on their first drive of the game as a quick handoff from [player_tooltip player_id='1699904' first='Jaevion' last='Elliott'] to [player_tooltip player_id='1029916' first='Micah' last='Nance'] resulted in an early 7-0 Blaze lead. The home team would extend their lead to 14-0 as a blocked kick was scooped up by Jaylin Dowell, who would blast into the house for the touchdown. Before the end of the first half, Cane Ridge would find the endzone, capitalizing off a fumble. Blackman held a 14-6 lead at halftime. The Blaze were unstoppable in the second half as Elliott quickly helped push the Blaze into the redzone. A quick handoff to Jabari Kemp would result in another touchdown as Blackman led 21-6. Elliott continued to dominate at the helm of the offense, showing off his ability to break free and run in the touchdown himself. Elliott recorded two rushing touchdowns in the second half of action. Nance also came in clutch in the fourth quarter, juking out the Cane Ridge defense to run in his second score of the night. Blackman went on to defeat Cane Ridge 42-6 to improve to 2-0 on the season.

To kick off my coverage for week two of the season, I stopped by Murfreesboro to catch Cane Ridge take on Blackman for some Thursday night football action. The Blaze would be victorious, claiming a 42-6 win over the Ravens. Here's my top performers as well as my full game recap.
