As they made their way on to the stage at the Central Florida Media Day at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Auburndale head football coach Antonio Thomas and his team were quick to point out the work that they put in during the off-season.
From line camps to 7-on-7 events to the camps and combines that were offered up, the Bloodhounds made sure that they were there, learning and competing.
Coming off a season that didn't go the way they felt it should have, this program realized that a season without a state playoff appearance was not a success, and that is something that motivated the players and coaches.
In a district that has defending 4A state runner up Orlando Jones and Lake Wales, there are no shortcuts to be taken if this team is to turn things around.
What they made sure to do during the months from early January until late July was to ensure that every player would get better, and Thomas, who is a great motivator and teacher was there every step of the way, making sure that if the football players weren't competing in other sports, they would be conditioning, getting stronger and making a commitment to football.
