Prep Redzone Louisiana released its latest 2027 rankings this past week with several prospects making notable leaps up the list heading into junior year.

Here's a look at seven of the biggest climbers ahead of their final high school season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1610246' first='Trey' last='Martin'] — 5-11, 185 RB/DB — Franklin Parish

The Patriots' three-phase standout has already seen his recruiting process kick off, but those first few offers — including Louisiana Tech, Tulane, Florida State, Houston and Michigan State — should only be the beginning of what figures to be a long list of options for the versatile athlete with next-level potential on either side of the ball. Martin was impressive on the 7-on-7 circuit as a ballhawk on the back end of his defenses, but more colleges seem intrigued by his ability as a strong, thickly build running back with flashes of big-play speed in the open field.

[player_tooltip player_id='1610241' first='Jude' last='Chamberlain'] — 6-5, 220 TE — Catholic (Baton Rouge)

Chamberlain saw reps this spring split out as a big wide receiver and impressed college coaches this summer on the camp circuit, including Houston and Vanderbilt offers to add to Tulane and Baylor near the end of the school year. The multisport standout, also a member of the Bears' basketball program, is a tall, long athlete with reliable hands with the potential to be lethal around the goal line and on key conversion downs and moves well enough to be a versatile and effective weapon down the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='1610129' first='Juelz' last='Batiste'] — 6-3, 225 EDGE — Edna Karr

Edna Karr looks flat-out loaded once again with their athletic edge-rusher among the most intriguing breakout candidates who appears poised to not only fill big shoes, but excel in an increased role. Batiste has quietly been an eye-catcher behind the scenes during the past year and backed up early optimism for his potential this spring with a few splashy, hard-hitting plays in the Cougars' scrimmage. He'll have more of an opportunity to showcase his ability this fall, but Troy, Nebraska, UCF and Auburn have all already made moves with offers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1356164' first='Jayden' last='Vessell'] — 6-2, 200 EDGE/DL — Catholic (Baton Rouge)

The stout, strong defensive end is among the top returning playmakers on the Bears' defense this year after garnering all-district recognition as a sophomore. Vessell is a powerful athlete capable of effectively and consistently setting the edge and is tenacious battling fighting through blocks and chasing down opposing passers and ball-carriers for plays behind the line. Tulane and Liberty have extended early offers, with SEC programs also showing some interest.

[player_tooltip player_id='1356161' first='Jermond' last='Macklin'] — 6-0, 185 RB — Edna Karr

The Cougars join Division-I Select rival Catholic (Baton Rouge) as arguably the state's top two programs entering the season each having two of the biggest 2027 rankings-risers as part of their talented rosters. Macklin was a part of what looks to be a two-headed monster at running back that was among the most notable takeaways from Edna Karr's spring scrimmage. He has good size and a strong build as a potential Power-Four back and showed some intriguing decisiveness and burst up field when presented a running lane.

[player_tooltip player_id='1250291' first='Alex' last='Fontenot'] — 6-2, 180 WR — Alexandria

The Trojans' budding star was Louisiana's major stock-risers this offseason, making a strong case for himself as a name to know in the state's loaded wide receiver class. Fontenot was a notable piece of Alexandria's passing attack as a sophomore and now figures to step into a more prominent role this fall after the team graduated several senior weapons in the 2025 class. And he measured in and tested well at college camps throughout the summer, including a 4.55-second 40-yard dash at LSU camp June 12 that was among the best in his position group.

[player_tooltip player_id='1612659' first='Brody' last='Anderson'] — 6-3, 200 QB — Westlake

Louisiana's impressive quarterback class continues to see more depth of potential Division-I talent emerging alongside some of its early headliners. Anderson is a tall, athletic lefty with enough arm strength to flick the ball 40-plus yard downfield on the run or off his back foot and a listed 4.6-second 40-yard dash that makes him effective escaping pressure or picking up timely conversions with his legs. He reached up 2,167 yards and 24 touchdowns passing as a sophomore and 571 yards and six scores on the ground.
