In the case of Manalapan's [player_tooltip player_id='1530259' first='Ethan' last='Fogelstrom'], I suspect that he might be such an athlete that he is asked to do so much. As a defensive end, Fogelstrom is quick off the snap, particularly when slanting into the B gap. That same quickness is on display offensively where the tight end goes in orbit motion and is given a toss. I thought that Fogelstrom does a good job of recognizing cutoff blocks - where he will fight to the inside - and reach blocks - where he fights to the outside and down the line. Similarly, the 2027 graduate recognizes pressure and fights back via spin when he is getting washed. Unblocked? No problem. Fogelstrom makes a number of plays from the backside. I would like to see Fogelstrom finish his slants with a solid rip and add instances of him squeezing hard and physically on tape next time I watch.

For as much deserved hype two defensive lineman for St. Augustine Prep receive, their secondary can ball out too. With the speed to run with all his assignments, [player_tooltip player_id='1602528' first='Christian' last='Dunoff'] makes plays in the secondary with his speed and sound ball skills as he adjusts to throws with ease. I feel as though Dunoff's smooth and stead backpedal allows him to see all in front of him and react swiftly. I felt as though Dunoff had quick reactions and breaks on the short game, where he finishes with solid body-to-body contact. As a force player his leveraged his maintained too. Perhaps what I enjoyed most about Dunoff's tape was that when power is ran directly at him, he is far from afraid and takes it on well. I do, however, think that Dunoff's hips can loosen up a bit. Many times when he is in suboptimal position he struggles to get them around; however, he does a excellent job of matching the receiver's hands in such situations.

I have a sweet spot in my heart for linebackers who get down hill. [player_tooltip player_id='909630' first='Hudson' last='Mahon'] does exactly that: get down hill, plug gaps, breakdown and tackle low in the backfield, and wrap extremely well. In a similar sense, when pass defending he gets downhill and drives on crossing routes. Mahon is fundamentally sound in terms of leverage tackling, keeping his head to the side of his vice. Additionally, Mahon fills the A gap when backside aggressively when his run fit is for cutback. The state's 10th best linebacker in his class is disciplined in taking his diagnose steps and then bailing to his pass zone responsibilities. Solely based on his highlight tape, Mahon is likely one of the better two-way linebacking prospects I have personally watch. Not withstanding opportunities for growth, Mahon can use his hands more to shed and disengage with blockers, as well as put clips of him defending deep and/or man coverage.

With the, frankly, over abundance of talent Winslow possesses at the skill positions, they also have players in the trenches who can ball out. Enter: [player_tooltip player_id='1515040' first='Ben' last='Carter']. An edge player with raw speed, Carter can beat tackles to 5 yards in 3 steps of less; additionally, he bends the corner well. His speed and athleticism affords Winslow to allow him to play elsewhere too, even mugging the center at times as a mike backer stunting. I thought that Carter was a bit old school in how he attacked linemen, using push/pull technique to get the best of his matchup as he works to extend his arms. Physicality is also a bit part of his game when tackling. A great deal of force is generated too as demonstrated by his closing speed. A an extremely, very raw prospect in my opinion, he is a mismatch nightmare with many skills to hone in on and refine. Carter would benefit from training his eyes when he is unblocked to improve how he spills and should also be reminded to buzz his feet when engaged at the line of scrimmage.
