is one that I missed and wish I got a more extended look at. In the little bit I caught of. him, Mahon appeared that he bent at the waist, rather than sink in his hips

. Mahon is able to get down hill in a hurry and does a great job of tackling low and wraps well through the thigh pads. Additionally, Mahon keeps his head to the side and keeps his leverage when tackling. In pass coverage, we see that Mahon drives on crossing routes, delivering his body to break up the pass in the process, flexing and showing off his physicality. Like a textbook linebacker, Mahon diagnoses run first and then drops to his spot in pass coverage. That ability to quickly assess what is going on in front of him lets him make plays as he shoots the backside window. Frankly speaking, Mahon is one of the better two-way linebacking prospects I have watched film on.

does exactly that: get down hill, plug gaps, breakdown and tackle low in the backfield, and wrap extremely well. In a similar sense, when pass defending he gets downhill and drives on crossing routes. Mahon is fundamentally sound in terms of leverage tackling, keeping his head to the side of his vice. Additionally, Mahon fills the A gap when backside aggressively when his run fit is for cutback. The state’s 10th best linebacker in his class is disciplined in taking his diagnose steps and then bailing to his pass zone responsibilities. Solely based on his highlight tape, Mahon is likely one of the better two-way linebacking prospects I have personally watch. Not withstanding opportunities for growth, Mahon can use his hands more to shed and disengage with blockers, as well as put clips of him defending deep and/or man coverage.
