On Saturday, May 3 I was fortunate enough to be invited to cover You Are Athlete's New Jersey Regional Exposure Camp. This event had a double session that features middle schoolers first and high schoolers second. As is customary whenever I attend an event, the first thing I take note of are the prospects that have the clear, physical measurables to immediately compete at the next, immediate level of play – also known as the eye test.

Opening up today is a prospect that deserves a shout out for coming from hours away, Aiden Moore. A Virginian, Moore traveled at least 4 hours to show out and compete. What I noticed was that Moore is an extremely raw prospect that needs to have his technique refined. That said, I think coaches have something to work with due to the fact he has a non-stop, unrelenting motor.

Moving on to prospects from the Empire State, Jermaine Perkins had a solid showcase for himself. I thought that during indy, Perkins was able to open eyes a bit with his get off, pad level, and hand usage - so much so that I made a note to circle back and watch him again later. During competition the blended sum of those three aforementioned elements manifested again for Perkins. This time, however, we saw him working his hands upward - with the goal to have them above his eyes - as he walked someone back on a bull rush... New Yorker Malachi Gibson first caught my attention during indy, where I noticed that he had very good feet, feet that were quick and light. Gibson excelled at getting past offensive linemen with the swim move toward the outside; yet, he was aware enough to attack inside when his matchup slid to him. I hope to see more finish on his rips in the future.

Closing out this batch of defensive lineman, we call out a pair of prospects from the Keystone State, first with Mar'Quis Harris. I thought that Harris profiled as a very good run stuffer. I noticed that not only did he use his hands, Harris grabbed cloth as if he was trying to control his gap, feel leverage, and play off of that. This allowed him to always be in very good position in terms of maintaining what would have been a pocket... In-all, Pennsylvania's [player_tooltip player_id='618697' first='Amir' last='Anderson'] might have been the best defensive lineman in attendance. If I could only use one word to describe Anderson's get off, I think that I would have to use "sudden." This sudden get off allows him to be a natural two-way threat where he can beat his matchup with speed to the outside or quickness to the inside. This twitchiness out of his stance allowed Anderson to toy with power-to-speed, as well as vice-versa with speed-to-power. I though that Anderson was outstanding and profiles as a very good edge setter.
