On Saturday, May 10th, 2025 I was welcomed back for the third year in a row to cover Coach Nick Pennisi‘s PSR Big Camp Series hosted at Monroe High School in Monroe, New Jersey. As I have come to expect, this event was packed with participation, loaded with talent, and ran extremely well.

Different than other events, Pennisi opted to have three different check-in times, based on position groupings. This afforded me the opportunity to get a closer look at many of the prospects in attendance. Below are just some of my notes on the position group mentioned in this article's title.

A name that I was delighted to see on the roster ahead of camp was that of [player_tooltip player_id='1572839' first='Jack' last='Gyimesi']. Gyimesi, a prospect I remember recently watching film on, showed some good qualities that make him a desirable piece, and perhaps in line for an expanded role, for the defending state champion Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs. Throughout intermediate routes, I thought that Gyimesi did a good job of making himself available and noticeable for his quarterbacks as he extended his hands well to receive the ball... Despite being 6'4" and 240lbs New Milford's [player_tooltip player_id='1550963' first='Jake' last='Johnson'] ran routes nearly like a wide receiver would. Johnson set up his breaks very nicely. Two instances of this where when he ran a post and later a stop. On the post, Johnson slowed down just a tad to set himself up. As soon as he realized he was open, he threw his hand up for the easy grab. Later on he sank his hips extremely low and hard for an easy pitch-and-catch on the stop.

A tight end a bit on the shorter side, [player_tooltip player_id='1692678' first='Cooper' last='Charzewski'] exceeded at competing. I thought that any 5050 ball was fair game. Charzewski demonstrated an outstanding ability to high point the ball and really get up for it as well... With all the physical tools to succeed, and at least two more seasons to hone in on those skills, Millville's [player_tooltip player_id='1692681' first='James' last='Jackson'] is a name to be mindful of moving forward. Given his height and size, I expect Jackson to really come into his own and utilize his frame more. Additionally, as he works with the Thunderbolt's excellent receiving corps, I figure his route running will improve and he will create more separation as a result.
