2025 Season Outlook

The 2025 season for Glenville promises to be a significant one for the program. The Tarblooders bring back a great group of talent and have plenty of younger athletes who will be able to contribute. The immediate skillset of Glenville that stands out is how fast and athletic they will be on the field. They have several skill position players who will be playing on Saturdays and at a high level. Their front seven will be a great unit, lead by two current Ohio State Buckeye commits. The talent on this team is deep, and once again in 2025, Glenville will be one of the best teams if not the best in all of D4.

Jamir or "JJ" is a monster and a hard task to defend. He's got great athleticism for his size and moves efficiently. Jamir is a great run stuffer. As a nose tackle, he plays with tons of power and can knock back his interior matchups. He can move his matchups towards ball carriers if he can't get off his block to slow down ball carriers. I would like to see him develop a wider set of pass-rush moves to become a more formidable force in the pass game, but the run-stuffing ability and size he brings are hard to find. Jamir recently flipped his commitment from Florida to the in-state Ohio State Buckeyes, and will be someone to watch out for on Saturdays here soon.

The 2028 class is still in its early stages, but Jaylen has solidified himself as one of the top defenders. His athleticism stands out immediately. He's instinctual in zone coverage and can make a play on the ball. He's got a good idea of space and can manipulate quarterbacks into throwing bad passes in his direction. He is an electric kick returner who can read blocks and explode. Edwards will be one to watch in 2025.

Crittenden carves out a special role in the Glenville program. He excels on all three sides of the game. Deanthony's versatility is remarkable, as he plays several positions in the secondary and as a wide receiver. He is a dangerous returner and also provides coverage defensively for special teams. He's small, but Crittenden is an athletic freak and a straight-line speedster. He plays physical and isn't afraid to be matched up on bigger weapons. Crittenden has picked up several P4 offers throughout the offseason period.

Javaris stood out in 2024 with his style of play. Cockwell brings back the clock with his physicality. He's a great athlete who shines both on defense and special teams. He is limited as a coverage defender, but he has the athleticism to run with receivers and can make a play in pursuit from anywhere on the field. On special teams, he seems to be the first defender to the ball and can blow up lanes. I hope to see Javaris develop into another star on this stacked defense.

Karmello recently picked up his first D1 offer from Toledo. Williams lined up primarily at right guard offensively. He has good drive and runs his feet off contact. He moves well and can work his way into the second level of the field. He does a good job of sealing off blocks. I'm excited to see what Karmello can put on tape this season.

Saffold is a transfer coming from St. Edward. Joseph has a good release off the line of scrimmage. He's good at getting early leverage off the snap and can put himself in good spots to get over the middle of the field. He's good after the catch and can make simple catches a house call. I'm excited to see what Saffold can do in the Glenville passing attack.

Scales is yet another skill position player in Glenville's deep roster. Scales has exceptional ball skills as a safety. After interceptions, he shows his shiftiness and can make a house call with the ball in his hands. He is quick to collapse on the ball if lined up close to the line of scrimmage. Scales plays fast and hits hard.
