Last Season (6-5)

Jamestown was the big surprise team in Section VI last season. After alternating wins for the first three weeks of the year, the Red & Green lost three straight league games by a combined margin of 12 points. They finished strong by blowing out their next three opponents. In the Class AA Semi-finals, Jamestown showed they belonged with a major upset over reigning three peat champions, Bennett. From there, Jamestown went to Highmark Stadium for the Section VI championship and lost a close battle 28-21 to Lancaster.

There is no doubt Bonta was the breakout player of the year last season. He went from a predominately LB role where he made 70 tackles in 2023 to a Connolly Cup finalist in 2024 where he not only had 119 tackles as a LB but exploded for almost 2,000 yards on the ground and 26 TDs.

Kennedy will be making his way up from JV this year. Last season, he showed dynamic hips and some good ball hawking skills as Jamestown's Nickle Back. How he will adapt to Varsity is yet to be seen but he has been putting in a lot of work this offseason and will be a name to look for as a breakout player.

Deleon is a name that is new to me but watching his tape from last season, it is surprising he didn't receive many accolades. A two way stud, Eligh has a big frame and moves extremely well. He keeps his pad level low and hits with force. He will be one of the key leaders for Jamestown this season.

The difference maker for getting Jamestown over the hump this season will be [player_tooltip player_id='1454294' first='Jackson' last='Grey']. Grey will be coming up from JV this year and is expected to be their Week 1 starter. Jackson showed a lot of potential as the JV QB as a 9th grader. He has a strong arm and fantastic awareness. He can lead an offense down the field and will have a great supporting cast this year.

2025 Outlook

Current Head Coach: Tom Langworthy (Entering his 18th season)

Same as last season, Jamestown begins the season against two non-league opponents then will finish with a string of 6 straight AA games; most notably week 3 when they host the reigning AA champs, Lancaster Legends.

This is a very promising season for Jamestown as many of their key pieces from last year are returning and it appears their offensive attack will be more balanced. For the past 15 seasons, the Class AA champions in section VI have been between Bennett, Orchard Park, Lancaster and Jamestown. I think there is a good chance this will be the Red & Green's first Class AA title since 2014 when they won States.
