We have just completed the largest update to the Nebraska Class of 2027 rankings, resulting in over 100 new names in our database and a completely revamped rankings list. To cover some of the new players and risers, I will provide positional overviews that offer a quick breakdown of a few players in each group, as well as share any relevant recruiting news on those prospects. Keep an eye out, as we will also be conducting player evaluations, where I will provide a more in-depth game tape breakdown as part of the update coverage.

[player_tooltip player_id='1085165' first='Jake' last='Kinkaid'] (@Jakekinkaid99) - It didn't take long for North Platte's [player_tooltip player_id='1085165' first='Jake' last='Kinkaid'] to establish himself as a dangerous pass rusher. In his sophomore season, Kinkaid recorded 40 tackles, 12 TFLs, seven sacks, and three forced fumbles, earning the spot of the top edge rusher in the latest update. Kinkaid has done a good job adding mass to his frame, jumping to 6'2" and 220 pounds going into his junior season. Kinkaid uses quick hands and fast twitch at the line of scrimmage to shake free from blockers and has the closing speed to bring down ball carriers and QBs for losses. Jake also demonstrated his ability to be just as effective in defending the run, thanks to his ability to set the edge. Definitely someone to buy early stock in!

[player_tooltip player_id='1085092' first='Maclain' last='Milius'] (@maclainmilius) - Lincoln Southwest's [player_tooltip player_id='1085092' first='Maclain' last='Milius'] lands as the #1 overall defensive linemen in the latest update. We project Maclain as a defender at the collegiate level, but a move to tight end from the offensive line is going to be something to watch this season, looking at his blocking skills and 6'4", 240-pound frame. As a sophomore, Maclain recorded 31 tackles, seven TFLs, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. Milius stands out with his speed coming off the line and quick hands that help him disengage from blockers and spill into the backfield. He's versatile in terms of how he's used in the scheme, showing that he can play with his hand in the dirt or as a stand-up edge rusher. High upside prospect!

[player_tooltip player_id='1662623' first='Devin' last='Cox'] (@TheBoyZzTw) - Omaha North has their next beast on the defensive line with the emergence of junior [player_tooltip player_id='1662623' first='Devin' last='Cox']. Devin stepped in nicely last season after injuries took a toll on the defensive line, ending the year with 28 tackles, seven TFLs, three sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Devin showed the skillset to play anywhere from nose tackle, defensive tackle, or a 3-4 defensive end, where he can use his blend of size (6'2" and 290 pounds), power, and explosiveness to wreak havoc along the line of scrimmage. Great pursuit of the ball and motor. The Vikings should have one of the stingier defenses in Class A this season with Devin set to play a big role in it.

[player_tooltip player_id='1588498' first='Trent' last='Alexander'] (@Trent5Alexander) - DC West's [player_tooltip player_id='1588498' first='Trent' last='Alexander'] may be listed as a defensive lineman, but we also looked at his upside on the offensive line. Trent recorded 38 tackles as a junior playing as a defensive end. Trent already has great size at 6'4", 265 pounds with solid mobility to keep him in pursuit of ball carriers on defense and locked in with speed rushers on offense. There are still some green areas to Trent's game, but he should be able to continue developing nicely in the upcoming couple of seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='1085103' first='Graham' last='Hoffart'] (@Graham_Hoffart) - Omaha Westside's [player_tooltip player_id='1085103' first='Graham' last='Hoffart'] is a player who is high on our radar going into his junior season. Hoffart is set to take on a bigger role in year 3 as the Warriors look to make another championship run. Graham is a strong, athletic defensive lineman standing at 6'3" and 230 pounds with a wrestling background that should help him stand out on the field. Breakout season incoming!
