Slagle is a throwback. His work on the field might only be outdone by his dedication to farming. Slagle managed to take care of both ambitions this offseason. A breakout sophomore campaign, junior day visits and camps have resulted in opportunity. Arkansas, Auburn, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Stanford and Wisconsin have reportedly offered Slagle scholarships. He's a desirable mix of present production and high ceiling with half of his prep career remaining. Slagle has the makings of a plug-and-play guys at the next level. The first clip on his 10th-grade highlight video features him carrying out an assignment and easily reaching a block on the second level. Slagle is the real deal and worth the price of admission.

Bowie impressed the heck out of me when I scouted him early last season at Iowa City West. That he hung tough with the Trojans' physical front said a lot. Bowie is a technically sound, tough interior offensive lineman. He stands out at guard now but has the athleticism and quickness to slide over to center. Bowie is powerful and does a nice job with his hands whether pushing forward in opening rushing lanes or setting up in pass protection. His sophomore highlights from 2024 provide evidence of his present production while also flashing his significant upside. Bowie wins in close quarters and does the same in space. It's only a matter of time before the scholarship offers start coming in.

Clausen and his family moved from Benton into the College Community School District, where he will join a Prairie program capable of making noise in 2025. For his part, Clausen provides the Prairie Hawks with a physical two-way lineman capable of impacting the game on both sides of the ball. It will be interesting to see if his new coaches try employing him in both trenches, which can be challenging at the 5A level. There's good reason to try it when we watch his sophomore highlight video from last season. The first clip shows him crashing down on the run as a defensive tackle, and the next one has him mauling an opponent on the interior of the O-Line. Clausen has time to figure out his ultimate position and plenty of potential to be a difference-maker.

Hagan caught my attention pretty early on when scouting the Maroons against rival Valley in the 5A state semifinals last November in Cedar Falls. Only a sophomore at the time, Hagan impressed with his power and physicality operating at left guard. He is explosive and active when engaging defensive linemen. Hagan puts them on their heels early and wins a lot of matchups playing through the whistle. Leverage helps him get under the pads of taller defenders. If you're wondering what all of that looks like, check out his 10th-grade highlights. You'll be entertained.

If Brenneman makes another jump in his development like he did last year, the opposition is in trouble. Progress seems likely with a frame capable of adding mass and strength without the loss of athleticism and agility that make him intriguing. Schools like Wisconsin and Kansas State are interested and invited him to summer camps. They saw the considerable potential when watching his sophomore highlight film from 2024. Brenneman is worth developing at left tackle, where he lined up as a 10th-grader. The ceiling is high there. Defensive line should not be ruled out, however. He has an aptitude for making plays there. The good news is Brenneman has time to figure it out and upside no matter where he ends up.

FCS power South Dakota State brought Steger in for camp last month and extended a scholarship offer before he left Brookings. It feels like Steger's recruitment is just getting started and more will be coming his way when others get a look at him this season. Steger impressed during sophomore highlight tape. He showed the versatility to succeed at both offensive tackle positions in 2024. It's worth continuing to develop Steger out there with the idea of showing college scouts that's his future. He operates with slick feet and balance. Steger effectively uses his hands well in pass-pro, where he shows advanced ability. He's also a mauler in the run game and could end up developing as an impactful performer on the interior for the next level. Stay tuned.
