Halfway through July and the heat is on as ballers across the state put the finishing touches on their off-season workouts. A lot of sweat equity has been built up over the last few months and it is finely getting close to show time.

The camp circuit is coming to a close with a few left, including the McPherson College camp later this month that many of the ballers below will be attending.

And, these last few weeks it is critical not to take anything for granted. No assuming something will happen or that it will work out on its own.

Now is the time to fully own your football destiny and be the captain of your ship. You are driving this thing, you know what you need to do to be successful, now go make it happen.

In this report we are taking a quick look at five guys who are getting ready to do just that in 2025. The first three are senior-to-be ballers getting ready for next-level seasons, while the final two are rising stars from the class of '27 getting ready to go scorched earth on the competition this fall.

So without further adieu, let's check in and see what these guys have been doing in the off-season:

[player_tooltip player_id='1566706' first='Brody' last='Shearer'] , DL, 6'0”, 275, Lincoln, '26. He is coming off a productive junior year that sets the stage for a big encore senior season this fall. A two-way mauling, brawling force in the trenches, he can play guard or center on offense as well as an aggressive defensive tackle on the other side of the ball. With his powerful frame, quick feet and explosive hands, he has been getting significant attention as a trench warrior with a high motor who will hit opponents in the mouth. Fine-tuning his power game and speedwork with Jeddy Tuiloma in Topeka on Saturdays, he has also been active in the camp-combine circuit this summer. He has made a number of school visits as well which resulted in offers with more to come. Get in his way at your own peril, as he is going to crush the opposition this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1401805' first='Ethan' last='Prescott'] – Free State, 6'2”, 200, DB, '26. He is following a good junior season as a versatile defensive back with all the skill sets needed to star at the next level. As a strong safety/hybrid linebacker, he wrapped up last year with 50+ tackles and a pair of tackles for loss for the Firebirds. With his prototype secondary size, length and athleticism he can play either safety position, using fine-tuned instincts to disrupt passing attacks as well as collapse down on the run and make jackhammer hits at the line of scrimmage. He has been busy this summer traveling to camps as far away as Montana and has already received offers from Nebraska Kearney and Benedictine with numerous others on the way. This guy is a strong D1-D2 secondary talent and is getting ready for a monster senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1545227' first='Noah' last='Diehl'] , 5'9, 165, RB/DB, Halstead, '26. He is a three-way baller coming off an excellent junior season as he gave fans and coaches a glimpse of things to come. On offense he can play running back or receiver and last fall had just under 500 total yards and scored a pair of touchdowns. On defense, he really shined as a ballhawk safety who had 70 tackles and intercepted five passes. With his athleticism, instincts and closing speed he blankets receivers when the ball is in the air or works through traffic to make jarring open-field tackles at the LOS. He is also a dangerous return man who runs back both punts and kicks. He recently concluded team and padded camps and will go to his last camp in McPherson later this month. Get your popcorn handy, this guy is ready to put on a show.

[player_tooltip player_id='1250567' first='Brody' last='Sedlacek'] , 5'11, 185, LB/RB, Hanover, '27. He is a versatile playmaker who caught my eye last season as a sophomore standout operating as a smothering outside linebacker with great read and react skills and a nose for the ball. He has had a busy off-season cross-training in other sports as well as sticking to a proactive training plan. This summer has been focused on all aspects of his game, pounding the weights four days a week, with football skills training on Tuesdays and Fridays after weights; followed by team camp every Wednesday. He is also training with Kegan Schumann and Revive Performance to help fine-tune his skill sets and has one last camp to attend when he heads to McPherson later this month. This guy is talented, battle-tested and ready for a big breakout season this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1717753' first='Nathan' last='Miller'], 5'11, 200, LB, Andover, '27. He is a versatile three-sport athlete coming off a solid sophomore season playing multiple positions on both sides of the ball. On defense he primarily lines up as an inside LB as well as stepping into help along the offensive line as needed. He has been dedicated in the off-season and his training is beginning to reap dividends as he has grown an inch and put on 20 pounds since last year. His summer training has been focused, working out twice a day doing weights/speedwork and then later works on mechanics and position drills. He will be attending his final camp this summer when he heads to the McPherson College later this month. With his strong work ethic and team-first attitude he has been willing to do whatever the team needs. This guy is going to surprise some people this fall.

In conclusion, get out and see these guys in action this fall – you will not be disappointed.
