Mile Markers: I-20

Here are a few players down I-20 in Georgia to keep on your radar.    Jones is a pure CB projection who isn't generating as much recruiting attention as you would think, given his tape and traits. He is a long, thin, leggy 6'1 155 with a lot of space to fill out. He is a three-sport athlete, tripling in football, basketball, and T/F. In 2024, he PR'd at 14.90 in the 110MH. Jones is both fast and fluid, enabling him to run with his receivers and twist and turn over both shoulders without looking clumsy. He is patient and tracks the ball well. Jones would be a nice late addition for some small schools, and possibly even some FCS programs. He has a lot of good ball ahead of him, just needs to add weight.     Parrott was a highly productive freshman on both sides of the ball last fall and is looking to build off that success as a sophomore. He comes in at 5'9 160 with long limbs. When you combine with his young age, you have a guy who doesn't appear to be done growing. He projects long-term as a receiver, he is simply too dangerous as a playmaker. He drives hard off the line and is a smooth accelerator through release points. He is a smooth, fluid athlete who can tap into different gears with the ball in his hands. He flashed impressive body control and go-get-it ability as a freshman at his size. I am expecting Parrott to continue generating FBS/P4 buzz as he grows.     Griggs is a productive, physical LB for Douglass. He comes in at 6'0 195 and carries that weight on a long, cut frame. He looks and plays bigger than listed. Griggs is explosive downfield and is a sudden athlete, helping him click from one assignment to another in coverage and quickly close on the ball when pursuing, perhaps his best trait. His motor runs hot and he consistently makes high-stamina plays by chasing the ball around the field. He greets blockers and ball carriers at the door with some pop in his pads, embracing his violence. Griggs holds D1 offers and has the makings of a productive tackler at the college level.     Keeping a close eye on [player_tooltip player_id='1535504' first='Malachi' last='Heard'], who produced on varsity as a sophomore and PR'd at 10.9 in the 100M. This kid is just tipping the iceberg right now. He is featherweight at 165 with a lot of space to add more mass. He is smooth and fast, and does both of those things while being a little funky as a mover, considering he is growing into his body. He is a bit of a gadget playmaker, it is clear his coaches just do whatever they can to get the ball in space. He is fast enough to lift off, slippery enough to break free, and steps on the toes of defenders when breaking them down to create more separation. I would be intrigued with this kid at a P4 school. A lot of tread on the tires here.     Callaway is a productive DB for KIPP and has extremely impressive T/F metrics. He PR'd at 10.80 in the 100M in 2025 while long jumping 23' 1.5'' (!) in the state championships. His size at 5'10 150 might prevent the big boys from getting involved, but he can move and is hard to separate against. He is pesky at the point of attack as well, something that will be needed to play corner at his size. He has time to add weight and get bigger. If I were at a P4 school, I'd want to learn more about this kid. There's a lot of juice athletically in his small frame. Plenty of potential here.     Perkins was productive as a junior both as a tackler and against the ball. He looks much bigger than listed due to the long reach in his arms. He is like a cloud in coverage thanks to his combination of speed and length, allowing him to be consistently trusted in single high looks. Perkins has some springs in his legs and can out-reach receivers in jump ball scenarios. He is hard to bend the ball around or drop it over him. He isn't afraid to come downhill and pop as well. Perkins is shockingly underrated and could generate late FBS attention.
