Throughout the month of July and even into August, we are publishing well over 100 of the most in-depth team previews that you'll find anywhere to get you completely ready for the 2025 football season. This is something that began for us at PRZ-Oklahoma in 2021 and it continues to get bigger and better every single year. We're looking forward to diving deep into the top teams across the state in every class. From defending champions, to the top contenders and plenty of dark horses and other teams to know, we'll have complete coverage every single day. There will be multiple previews dropping every single day! In this post, we take a look at the Marlow Outlaws!

Marlow Outlaws

Preseason Prep Redzone Ranking: #6 In Class 2A-1

Head Coach: Matt Weber - 8th Season - 64-22 Record At Marlow

2024 RESULTS (10-3 Record - Lost In Class 2A-1 Semifinals)

Aug. 30th - Lost To North Rock Creek 17-7
Sept. 6th - Beat Chickasha 35-7
Sept. 12th - Beat Mustang JV 53-7
Sept. 27th - Beat Lindsay 52-0
Oct. 4th - Beat Lexington 34-0
Oct. 11th - Beat Crossings Christian 31-0
Oct. 17th - Lost To Washington 35-28 (OT)
Oct. 25th - Beat Dickson 50-7
Nov. 1st - Beat Marietta 47-0
Nov. 8th - Beat Little Axe 27-0
1st Round - Beat Chisholm 21-14
Quarterfinals - Beat Kingston 27-21
Semifinals - Lost To Millwood 36-34 (2OT)

2024 Offensive Scoring Average: 32.8 Points Per Game
2024 Defensive Scoring Average: 11.4 Points Per Game

The Marlow Outlaws came into the 2024 football season looking to build off their run to the Class 3A semifinals in 2023. They were originally supposed to run it back in Class 3A but the emergency redistricting shuffle that took place in August put them down into Class 2A-1. The season opened with a loss to North Rock Creek but they would go on a bit of a run from there. The Outlaws won their next five games, including entering district play with three consecutive shutout victories. In week seven, they tried to knock off defending champion Washington but came up short in overtime. That would be the only blemish on the district record. They finished out the regular season with three more wins, including two more shutouts, giving them five on the season. They finished the regular season with an 8-2 record but had some momentum going into the playoffs. The first two rounds were close for the Outlaws. They beat Chisholm 21-14 in the first round and then took down district champion Kingston in the quarterfinals, winning 27-21. That set up a semifinal showdown with Millwood and that would be another close game. The game went into overtime, and then double overtime. Millwood scored first and got the two-point conversion. Marlow responded with a touchdown but on the two-point conversion, they threw an interception and the season came to an end at 10-3. It was still a solid season as they made the semifinals for the second straight year and the third time in the last four seasons. Now, the Outlaws look to reload for another run in Class 2A-1.

2025 OUTLOOK

It's a new season but the expectations remain the same for Marlow as they enter the 2025 football season. The Outlaws are once again a preseason top ten team and they'll be one of the top contenders in this class. Five starters return on the offensive side of the ball and one of the biggest question marks is the quarterback position as they'll have a new QB1 this season. But the Outlaws still have a decent spread of returning offensive linemen and skill players to make this offense hum this season. They'll look to attack defenses with a balanced offense and they showed at various times last season that they can light up a scoreboard. Defensively, that's where we have the most questions about Marlow heading into 2025. Only four starters return from last year's team. And last year's defense was absolutely filthy. Five of their six district victories were shutout wins. They gave up a little over 10 points per game. Finding guys to replace that kind of dominance and overall production is no easy task. Now, when it comes down to the big picture, it's all about the district race. The Outlaws still find themselves in the same district with Washington. And as of right now, all roads in Class 2A and now 2A-1 go through Washington. If the Outlaws are going to capture another state championship, the Warriors could be in the way and Marlow has to take them out. They have plenty of new faces this year but they also have some really talented players returning. We're only a few years removed from Marlow capturing the 2021 state championship. This year's team wants to run that back.

KEY LOSSES TO GRADUATION

Blayd Harris - Quarterback/Defensive Back
Korbin Dittner - Linebacker
Jonny Brite - Running Back

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1716149' first='Boomer' last='Brooks'] returns for another year at wide receiver in the Marlow offense. The fact that the Outlaws have Brooks returning will make things a little easier for the offense as they break in a new quarterback. Brooks has been hard at work this offseason, getting stronger and becoming an even more complete wide receiver prospect. Brooks has basically lived in the weight room this offseason and he's going into his senior year bigger and stronger. He has the potential to really impact the game for Marlow this season and put up some big time numbers. And finally, [player_tooltip player_id='1716149' first='Boomer' last='Brooks'] is one of the better names we've written about this month.

Marlow has had a really strong run of quarterbacks lately and they'll have another new starter this season. Junior signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1716150' first='Brendan' last='Weber'] appears to be the guy at QB1 for the Outlaws as we head into the 2025 football season. Like any new starting quarterback, there are more questions than answers at this point in the offseason. But based on what we do know, it looks like Weber is going to give Marlow a different look from what they've been used to over the last few years. Weber doesn't seem like the last few quarterbacks that have started for the Outlaws. But when you look around this roster, specifically at the skill positions, he's going to have some weapons to play with.

There's another Gilbert, ready to tear things up for the Outlaws this season. First, it was Jace Gilbert, leading them to a state championship. Cade Gilbert had a solid career and now junior [player_tooltip player_id='1716151' first='Clete' last='Gilbert'] is the biggest of the three. Clete will start for Marlow on the offensive and defensive lines. And because you can't have a Gilbert take the field for Marlow, who isn't a kicker, he'll handle kicking and punting duties. Gilbert will help pave the way for a Marlow offense that has the potential to be really good this season. And when it comes to special teams, we're looking forward to see if he has the strong leg that we've seen from the Gilberts the last few years.

Senior running back and linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1716143' first='Hudson' last='Morgan'] was one of the first players mentioned by the Marlow coaches when they talked about the top returning players. As a football prospect, Morgan might not ever play football again after this fall. He's also one of the top baseball prospects in the state and is committed to Oklahoma State for baseball. Morgan has good size at 6'3 and over 200 pounds and can be a really solid two-way player for the Outlaws this fall. We're really intrigued with what kind of season Morgan will have this fall. Morgan has had a terrific offseason on the baseball diamond and now he's looking for one more run on the gridiron.

MORE NAMES TO KNOW

Aiden Justus - 2026 Offensive/Defensive Lineman
Clinton Ladon - 2027 Running Back/Defensive Back
Jake Pettit - 2027 Offensive/Defensive Lineman
[player_tooltip player_id='1026222' first='Jaxson' last='Murray'] - 2027 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back
Justin Zhang - 2026 Fullback/Safety
Major Fleetwood - 2026 Defensive Back
Wyatt Osborn - 2026 Defensive Back

2025 SCHEDULE

Aug. 29th - North Rock Creek
- For the second straight year, Marlow opens the regular season against 3A's North Rock Creek. Last season, the year got off to a bad start after they fell to North Rock Creek in the season opener. This year, they look to get off to a fast start and this would be a good win against a possible 3A playoff team.
Sept. 5th - Chickasha
- Marlow will continue their non-district meetings with Chickasha in week one and they'll be at home for this one. These two teams started playing annually in 2018. Chickasha took the first two meetings but Marlow has won five straight in the series, including last year's 35-7 victory.
Sept. 11th - AT Mustang JV
- Marlow will wrap up non-district play early with a Thursday night game in week two. The Outlaws will head up to Mustang to take on their JV squad. Last season, the Outlaws rolled to a 53-7 victory. As far as series history, there isn't much as that was the first meeting between those teams.
Sept. 26th - AT Lindsay
- After a week off, district play kicks off for the Outlaws in week four with a road game against Lindsay. Marlow shut out Lindsay 52-0 last season. It was the first of five shutout victories in district play. The 52-0 win was also the largest margin of victory for the Outlaws during the 2024 season.
Oct. 3rd - Lexington
- Lexington was another new opponent for Marlow after the redistricting shuffle last spring. The Outlaws beat Lexington 34-0 last season but prior to that, these two hadn't met on the gridiron since they were district opponents in 2016 and 2017. Marlow swept that series and is 3-0 against Lexington.
Oct. 10th - AT Crossings Christian
- The second half of the regular season kicks off with a road game for Marlow as they head up to Crossings Christian. Last year was the first time that these two programs met on the gridiron. The Outlaws would win last year's meeting 31-0. Both teams are improved as we head into 2025.
Oct. 16th - Washington
- On a Fall Break Thursday night, Marlow hosts Washington and the district championship will more than likely be on the line here. Marlow came up short in overtime against the Warriors last season. And Washington comes into this season with a 44-game winning streak. Their last loss was to Marlow in the 2021 title game.
Oct. 24th - AT Dickson
- After the Fall Break showdown with Washington, Marlow will go back on the road to face Dickson and this is another series that has been completely favorable to the Outlaws. Marlow won 50-7 last season. They've met in each of the last three years and Marlow has outscored Dickson 137-7.
Oct. 31st - Marietta
- On a Halloween Friday night in week nine, Marlow will host Marietta and it will be the last home game of the regular season. Marlow shut out Marietta 47-0 last season. These two teams were also district opponents in 2020 and 2021. Marlow is 3-0 during this stretch and they've been dominant.
Nov. 6th - AT Little Axe
- The regular season will come to an end with a road game against Little Axe in week ten. Last season, Marlow scored their fifth shutout victory when they beat Little Axe 27-0. Prior to last season, the Outlaws hadn't played Little Axe since the 2014 playoffs. Marlow has won three straight in the series.

NOTABLE

Head coach Matt Weber is in his second stint as Marlow's head coach. He led the Outlaws from 2004-2007 before being hired at Ada. He also spent three years at Pauls Valley and in 2018, he returned to Marlow. In his 21 seasons as a head coach, Weber has won 161 games. More than half of them have been between his two stints at Marlow. But this season, Weber has a chance to hit a pretty special milestone. Going into this season, Weber has 95 career wins at Marlow alone. Unless things just completely fall apart for the Outlaws, Weber should be able to hit 100 wins at Marlow alone this season. It'll be his 8th season during this current tenure but his 12th overall. In 2021, he helped guide the Outlaws to their first state championship in nearly six decades. And in the last two seasons, they've been knocking on the door of that state championship game. This season, Weber looks to make more history and the Outlaws look to kick that door down and make another trip to Edmond.

LAST FIVE SEASONS

2024 - 10-3 - Lost In Class 2A-1 Semifinals
2023 - 9-4 - Lost In Class 3A Semifinals
2022 - 7-4 - Lost In Class 3A 1st Round
2021 - 15-0 - Class 2A State Champions
2020 - 11-1 - Lost In Class 2A Quarterfinals

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY

3 State Championships

2021 - Beat Washington 17-13
1964 - Beat Bixby 25-12
1959 - Beat Hominy 32-0
