The Edmond North Huskies are looking forward to a new year and new opportunities. They came into the 2024 football season with a little bit of momentum after punching their ticket to the playoffs for the second straight year in 2023. But they had quite a few new starters and the growing pains would show on the football field. However, it looked like it would be another playoff year for the Huskies early on. They started the year with a 2-0 record after beating PC West and rival Edmond Santa Fe. But things turned around in a bad way from there. They lost their rivalry game with Edmond Memorial and then lost their first four district games, falling to 2-5 on the season. They beat Enid in week eight but then dropped their last two games to Moore and Jenks. And because of that, they finished 1-6 in district play and on the outside looking in on the postseason. But Edmond North is now turning the page to a new season and they are in a completely different position heading into 2025. All of those young starters from 2024 are now experienced and ready to get that sour taste out of their mouth. Despite the 3-7 year in 2024, there is reason to be optimistic heading into the 2025 football season.

2025 OUTLOOK

16 starters return for the Huskies as they head into 2025. And nearly every starter is back on the offensive side of the ball. The Huskies look to be more explosive on the offensive side of the ball with nine starters returning from last year's team that averaged 21 points per game. The quarterback returns and four of the five offensive linemen are back. The majority of the skill players are also returning, making Edmond North's offense a unit to look out for in 2025. Defensively, the Huskies bring back seven starters on that side of the ball and while they had some shakeups with their defensive coaches, we got a chance to watch this unit in person back in the spring and they play with a lot of energy and they bring the noise. Similar to the offense, we think that this defense could end up being incredibly improved heading into this season. They have to go out and prove it on the field but it looks like they have the pieces to take that next step. Last season, we saw Edmond North's district foe Norman go from unranked in the preseason to 9-1 in the regular season. With the experience and production that Edmond North has, it's not out of the realm of possibilities that they have a similar breakout season. Going from a team that won three games a year for four straight seasons to much more in 2025.

Junior defensive end [player_tooltip player_id='1171162' first='Cadriann' last='Olds'] is a player that needs to be on more radars as he heads into this season. We first started watching Olds when he was a freshman at Star Spencer and the overall raw talent was off the charts then. Olds made the transition to Edmond North last season and he had an instant impact on this Edmond North defense. The Huskies have a couple guys on the defensive line that we think will be nightmares for opposing offensive linemen. Olds is one of them. Even though he is just a junior, we think Olds could be one of the top pass rushers in 6A-1.

Junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1735181' first='Chauncey' last='Cravens'] returns for his second season as QB1 of the Huskies and we're looking forward to seeing what kind of jump he makes. Last fall, Cravens would throw for nearly 1,500 yards and nine touchdowns. But when you look at the game by game log, it looks like Cravens was playing some of his best football in the middle of the year. Even against some of the toughest opponents, Cravens was still finding a way to produce. And with the majority of his offensive teammates returning, the chemistry should be there for Cravens to have a big junior year.

Cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='1260189' first='Frederick' last='Nash'] is another junior to watch heading into this season. Nash first got on our radar following his freshman season at Guthrie. He came to one of our offseason camps and absolutely dominated at the cornerback position. And at those camps, everyone wants to play offense but Nash was ready to shut down anybody he went one on one with. Nash is now moving to the safety position but in our opinion, it doesn't matter where he lines up in the secondary, he has the talent and natural instincts to provide a significant impact on the defensive side of the ball.

Sophomore offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1689505' first='Wyatt' last='Knol'] is already on the radar following a good freshman season but an even stronger offseason. Knol has earned some D1 offers and that shouldn't slow down as he starts to put together more film. Edmond North's strength on offense begins with the offensive line and the experience and overall talent they have returning. Knol is just a sophomore and the Huskies have some seniors that will be starting alongside him. But Knol has an incredibly high ceiling moving forward. The Huskies could be potent on offense this season and it starts on the line.

2025 SCHEDULE

Aug. 29th - AT Farmington, AR.
- The 2025 regular season will open up with what feels like a first for Edmond North. The Huskies will go out of state for the season opener as they head to Farmington, Arkansas. Last year, they played PC West in the opener but now, they will face an out of state opponent and we don't believe that's ever happened.
Sept. 5th - Edmond Santa Fe
- Edmond North has their home opener in week one against rival Edmond Santa Fe. Overall, the Wolves have done very well in this series but the Huskies have the advantage lately. They beat Santa Fe 41-35 last season and they've won two out of the last three meetings.
Sept. 12th - Edmond Memorial
- One week after playing Santa Fe, the Huskies will play their other Edmond rival, Memorial in week two to wrap up non-district play. The Huskies lost to the Bulldogs 22-13 last season. But if Edmond North beats Santa Fe in week one, that will open the door for them to win the city title for the first time since 2012.
Sept. 26th - Norman
- After a week off, Edmond North opens up their district slate at home against Norman in week four. The Huskies lost 30-0 last season and have dropped the last two in the series. For Edmond North, they are hoping to have a run like Norman had last season as a west side darkhorse to make noise in 6A-1.
Oct. 3rd - AT Deer Creek
- After three straight home games, Edmond North finally goes back on the road for the first time in over a month. They won't go very far as they head to Deer Creek in week five. Last season, the Antlers won 55-24 over the Huskies and that was their fifth straight win in the series. The Huskies are searching for their first win.
Oct. 9th - Bixby
- The second half of the regular season kicks off with the defending champs from Bixby coming to town. Last season, the Spartans rolled to a season-high 85 points in their 85-24 win. When it comes to the measuring stick in Class 6A-1 football right now, the Spartans are that measuring stick.
Oct. 16th - AT Mustang
- On a Fall Break Thursday night in week seven, Edmond North goes on the road to face a reloaded Mustang squad. The Huskies lost 45-27 last season and that was their 11th straight loss in the series. Their last win over Mustang came in 2011 and the Broncos have gotten quite a few new additions.
Oct. 24th - Enid
- The final home game of the regular season comes in week eight when the Huskies host Enid. Edmond North has won the last two in this series, including last year's 14-7 victory over the Plainsmen. Enid might look different this season as they will have a first year head coach this fall.
Oct. 31st - AT Moore
- On a Halloween Friday night in week nine, Edmond North goes south to face Moore. The Lions have had Edmond North's number, winning the last four in the series, including last year's 49-21 victory. If Edmond North wants to be a playoff team, this is a must win. The Lions will have a first year head coach.
Nov. 6th - AT Jenks
- The regular season finale comes in week ten with a road trip to Jenks. Edmond North lost to the Trojans 21-0 last season. It was the first meeting between these two in the regular season. They've had two playoff meetings in the last 15 years. Edmond North is searching for their first win against Jenks.

Edmond North feels like a program that has been spinning its tires since Class 6A was split into two divisions. But at the same time, it also feels like they are starting to get some traction and could be on their way out of the mud. In the final four years that Class 6A was a 32-team class, from 2010-2013, Edmond North made four straight playoff appearances and won their first round game. They would lose in the quarterfinals to either Jenks or Union. But since Class 6A was split into two divisions, the Huskies have been battling for that first playoff win. They would miss out on the playoffs from 2014-2019 and made it to the postseason in 2020 during the year where every team that wanted to participate could participate because of the Covid-impacted season. In 2022 and 2023, they made the playoffs but suffered first round exits. Now, with 16 starters back, the Huskies are expecting to take the next step. Not only punch their ticket to the postseason, but get that first playoff win in over a decade.
