A brand new name that caught my attention in Brookings was Tate Hogie from Ipswich. One of two 2028 Ipswich Tigers that caught my notebook for their skillsets at SDSU. He showed off violent hands for his age at the point of attack and with a better pad-level than you might expect. Another area that blossomed in my eyes from Tate, was technique he showed off with his wide, yet steady base. The 6'0 230 pounder is surely one that needs to get added to our 2028 rankings upcoming in the Mount Rushmore State.

We got our first live eval on Addison at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase in May in which he had plenty of solid attention, but I felt at the SDSU big man prospect camp the bar rose even better from Addison when evaluating his skillets. The verified 6'3 300 pounder from EPJ, showed off more clinching power and strength with his hands and also took a step forward when I watched his persistent pad-level as a 2028 OL that I feel is starting to relish the small details in the offensive trenches. Being one of the first 2028s to hit my notebook at a camp is usually a good sign, as Addison showed even more coaches what's upcoming in this 2028 class.

We always love the amount live evals we get on new names during camp season, as we roll into the 2027 class we got our first look at Turtle Mountain's [player_tooltip player_id='1292645' first='Rosin' last='Keplin']. The 6'2 255 pounder is one that showed off a quick growth curve of upside during camp, as was one that the final rep showed development from his first step during camp in Brookings. I also was impressed from the eye test, how smooth this young man's footwork was when moving laterally as he projects from my view as an offensive guard at the next level. He had the physical hands to compete against the grain of competition in Brookings and is one that impresses me with the upside and growth he can make in the coming years.

Jack Benner, Central Lee, IA 2027

Another new name that I got a first look on our the state of Iowa in this 2027 class, was Jack Benner from Central Lee in far SE Iowa. Another 2027 offensive linemen that passed the eye test with his footwork, as there was plenty of fluidity in Jack's movement within that skillset. He showed off too a good first step, and surely there is more upside to grow to generate more power and base coming his way as an incoming junior for Central Lee. Certainly a OL prospect that has some raw traits to untap, but he's got plenty of time to develop in the coming years to get to the next-level.

Stevie Grabowski, Millard South, NE 2027 Twitter

I've learned in now the four-five years I have been camping at SDSU, that usually there is at least one prospect from Millard South (NE) that will catch my attention and this year that came from 2027 offensive linemen Stevie Grabowski. At 6'5 280 pounds, Stevie showed off how agile he was with his footwork especially when I got to watch him move laterally. In the later reps in Brookings, Stevie showed off an OL prospect that was basically immovable, as his long arms and well-versed hands showed off plenty of promise in pass-pro. It's no wonder that D1 schools have given a ton of interest to this young man already.

Alex Lindeman, Dell Rapids St. Mary, SD 2027 Twitter

Alex was a 2027 prospect that got a herd of reps that I watched during 1v1s which tells me the SDSU staff was surely paying attention to our OL/DL2 in the South Dakota 2027 class. The 6'4 280 pounder from Dell Rapids St. Mary I could tell was one that played with a chip on his shoulder, as he showed off some of his best reps in run-blocking schemes as he could generate his power quickly. He showed off during pass-pro reps where his upside can grow, but Alex was another OL prospect that it wasn't the first rep that caught my eye, it was his last rep which shows me this young man has a quick growth curve with his football IQ.

This was one of two camps I got to get my live eval on Buffalo 2027 offensive linemen Matthew Babatz, as I surely liked what I saw at the SDSU OL/DL Prospect Camp. He showed off ample hip flexibility when watching his footwork during 1v1 reps as that foot speed was able to shield off the defensive linemen that came his way especially during the pass-pro reps I watched. He was another one that finished strong during the final reps of camp, as where this was proven was with where his hand placement was during those final reps as not only was Matthew on point with the placement, he showed off plenty of ample strength at the point of attack. This won't be the first time you hear about Matthew in the coming weeks from our live evals from camps in the Midwest!

If I had a OL 2027 MVP to dish out from the SDSU prospect camp on 6/20, One of my votes would certainly go to Kuemper Catholic's [player_tooltip player_id='1694834' first='Reid' last='Steger']. The amount of times during the board drill that this young man took his defender for a ride was certainly plenty of times. The 6'5 312 pounder, also showed off plenty of power generated from his stout lower body as you could gauge rep after rep the pure strength Reid had as his disposal. I also could gauge from an energy perspective that this young man played with an ample of amount of grit and high stamina as a 2027 offensive linemen that operated with the blue-collar demeanor that you might expect from an offensive linement out of the state of Iowa. He picked up his first D1 offer from SDSU on 6/20 and I would be remissed if I didn't think this young man is going to blow up in the next several months.

Easily one of the biggest 2027 stockrisers in South Dakota in the last month, has been Dakota Valley offensive linemen [player_tooltip player_id='1621132' first='Seth' last='Reinhardt'] who we got our first camp live look at a couple Fridays ago already. If there was a 2027 offensive linemen in this group that aced the test for attention to the details, it was Seth. He showed off the tightest angles during the circle drill I watched and was always one of the strongest ones in the group I watched with his finish. When I got to watch Seth during 1v1s, he impressed me with how quick he could re-fit his hands and gain some very quick leverage. Seth has surely shown at summer camps he was one of the best offensive linemen in this 2027 South Dakota class.
